I can't stop!! I have a serious problem, I simply cannot resist the urge to binge. How do you stop yourself? I've tried halving what I have, taking my mind off it, substituting junk for for healthier food, but it just doesn't work :(

the more I try to NOT eat a whole bunch of crap, it turns into a binge.
I almost have to not think about any of it.. not think about the "quitting the junk" then once i get into a few days of feeling good with healthy food, it is a lot easier... like I got past the junk withdrawals. Good Luck to you! and.. aren't you preggers? I would think that your cravings would just be so much harder to control.. mine were with the last pregnancy and I just gave in and decided to wait until after the baby was born to fix it :)

Yep I'm pregnant! But I have been like this for years now, can't blame it on my pregnancy :p It's an extra reason I'm trying to stop, I want to be eating the right foods, but my poor baby is just getting a load of junk!

I know how you feel, i start everyday with the best intentions but by 3 in the afternoon i crave ice cream, a particular kind and nothing else will do, i usually end up eating a very large amount and then feel horrible about myself, i don't know what to do except try again tomorrow

I know how you feel! I don't crave snack food junk... but I get intense cravings for take out/fast food junk. I get that shaky feeling like I need protein or something, but it does not go away when I eat protein in nuts or something. It is so frustrating!

CUT DOWN GRADUALLY.
DRINK MORE LIQUIDS/WATER. STAY AWAY FROM SUGAR AND JUNK FOODS. EAT MORE VEGGIES AND SOME FRUITS BUT DONT OVER DO IT. TRY TEA! DONT BUY IT. ALITTLE WONT KILL YOU BUT ALOT WILL. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.

Dava.....I wish it was that easy......
I can completely relate......I wish I had an answer but I don't. I know for me often my binges are triggered by different things, perhaps you could try and figure out if that is the same for you and try to implement an alternative coping method? I know it's easier said than done though. (((hugs)))

I had gastric bypass surgery six months ago for many reasons, many health reasons, some other, but I'm still diagnosed with binge eating disorder and that held up my surgeon even approving me for the surgery, or my insurance for that matter. Recovering from binge eating feels next to impossible and it's so hard. It's good to try to uncover the triggers and deal with those. I, myself, had to get the help of a therapist to help me plow through some of this because I couldn't do it and found out I'm a major emotional eater. Even after my gastric bypass, I still fight urges to binge eat and I try to rationalize the days when I have bad food days now and my therapist calls me out on it and we find the surrounding circumsances around what brought it on and how to problem solve. It's not easy to recover of, not a lot of people always understand how difficult it really is to recover of. You being pregnant on top of this must be really hard for you. I know when my mind was set on a binge, there was nothing to stop it. For me, I had to get surgery to help me, but I also had huge health issues to take care of on top of it. I don't think I could even have begun recovery without the help of my surgery. I'd say find the triggers of the binges (there usually is something happening to cause them) and work really hard to distract yourself with anything you enjoy, whether it's going for a walk, going for a drive, reading a book, spending time with someone, journalling, surfing the net, chatting, e-mailing, who knows, anything you can find enjoyment in. Try to find your triggers and avoid them, and try hard to sidetrack yourself when the urges hit. One of the best things that was told to me is drink fluids when you want to eat at a time you don't need the food cuz sometimes it's head hunger, not real, true hunger, and fluid will help with that. It's so hard though, and I totally relate so much more then you know. I didn't get ot almost 400 pounds without understanding just how hard it is to recover of and fight. Good luck to you and if you need to talk, I'm always here!
