Head and Neck Cancer

My husband has head and neck cancer again. He first had it 1 year ago and had chemo and radiation. He was just in the hospital for 4 days and since he has gotten out he is having pain in his legs. They are giving him prednisone, paxil xanax and percocet. He has so much muscle weakness and pain he can barely walk. He needs help getting up out of a chair or sitting down and he can hardly walk. I'm worried that this is a bad reaction to his meds. He doesn't want to go back to the emergency room we have been there 5 times in the last 2 weeks. He is upstairs sleeping right now but Im thinking that I will have to call an ambulance for him. Does anyone have any info on these meds. I think it might be a bad reaction to the steriods. Does anyone know what I should do? I think he is making a mistake not going to the hospital.

" Is he undergoing any treatment for the cancer at this time? All of those meds sound like pain and arthritis meds. I don't have any experience with them but I would sure get him to the hospital if it continues. "

" I'm not sure how to reply to questions on here. To answer Pastorbob They are doing one more pet scan and then he will be getting chemo no radiation this time. I just sopke with his doctor and he said that he also has what they think is fluid pressing against his spine. They are doing another MRI. They are concerned about the cancer possibly being in his back also. he has some small spots on his lungs that they knew about. He went into the hospital Saturday night by ambulance because he was in so much pain and he is still in there while they do more tests. "

" You can look up reactions on amy meds at WebMd.com and several other sites.
I'm on prednisone right now and luckily I've had no adverse reation, but it can cause muscle weakness and some of the side effcts of the other drugs you mention are the same. It does seem a bit extreme to give him all of those in combination. You might want another doctors opinion. The easiest thing would be to decrease the doesage of some of those to see if he improves.
May God bless you and stay in your heart for strength. "
