Hello Everyone, my name is Lucy Balay, and I just received a phone call today (6-12-08) from my doctor saying that she detected HPV in my paps test, and something about LSIL. She also explained something about 'mild cellular change.' I have an appointment in 2 weeks for an colposcopy, however I am terrified of what may be going on inside me. Any information will be greatly appreciated on the topic, and I apologize if I was too vague.
Thank you! Lucy Posted on 06/12/08, 11:06 pm |

It means you have low grade cervical changes to your cervix. Does not mean you have cervical cancer but you have cells that have changed in shape and size that if not attended to can become cancer in many many years but this won't happen because with colpsocpy's and treatment given during the colpscopy's you will be fine. Eat well, exercise, safe sex and don't smoke. It time the dysplasia will regress to normal.

Missy, and Delta I appreciate your replies, and to know that people understand what I am going through it unbelievably helpful. Im sure once I've had the colpscopy I'll know much more, however Im some what uneasy with what Ive been reading about warts. To my knowledge I haven't seen anything that looks out of the ordinary, but I have had a bit of irritation, and discharge. Its somewhat clear, and has no scent. I dont know if its my bodies normal activities and me just freaking out, or if it has something to do with HPV. Any ideas?

HI,I was diagnosed with HPV about 5weeks ago...I had a colposcopy and a LEEP. You can have HPV without warts. You may also have had the Pap done early enough that it showed the presence of HPV but the warts hadn't shown up yet...that's what happened to me. By the time I had the Colp I had one little group of warts...she took a cervical biopsy (unpleasant, mildly painful, but didn't last long at all), and then did an acid treatment...and that took care of it. I had a leep done the next week because the cervical cell changes were in my cervical canal...she wanted to remove it so it didn't spread. I had the same thing...I had some minor itching an irritation, somewhat clear discharge w/ no odor.
You are gonna be fine! We are all here if you need to talk!! I was so scared at first too. I had some wonderful friends who helped me get thru it and the support on here is fabulous!!! This is one place you know you won't be judged because we are all right with you! take care of yourself!

And if a wart does pop up it is treatable.
1 out of 3 women that have been statistically reported are dealing with HPV. It is very common. I have LSIL and my gyno told me in time it does regress and reverse to normal. Your immune system will put it back into check.
