Vitamins are helping!

Hi Guys!
I am feeling better, and wanted to pass on some vitamin information. I am still in the Hyper range, but my blood test results are starting to normalize.

I am taking PTU, and propanolol, but my doses were just knocked down. :) Yay!!!! I have started taking L-Carnitine (2000mg/day) and Copper 2+ gluconate (1000mg) and am eating and drinking Soy products. These have helped me feel better, quickly. The L-carnitine is expensive, but it has made a night and day difference with my levels since I've started taking it. My TSH is going up, and my T4 is going down. :) My eyes have retracted, and I am feeling better.
I got that advice from the book "living well with Graves disease" and from my holistic practitioner. Its working.

Diet:
I have cut out all Mammals from my diet. Hamburgers made from Cow have sometimes had enough thyroid hormone to put us into a thyroid storm. I had no idea! I feel better.

Mental fatigue/loss of brain function:
I am taking an omega 3, 6, 9 fatty acid pack, and alpha lipoic acid (as directed), daily. If you are having trouble focusing at work, or finding words when you try to talk...try this combo. I am making a lot of progress, and have started to be able to argue with my boss again, and make critical decisions at work. I can't believe how well these are working. I think I'm going to be able to stay in my Ph.D. program, afterall! I am no longer on Xanax, and am still able to cope.

Hair loss: My hair was falling out in clumps, so I started to take GNC Hair, skin and nails (as directed) and Evening primrose oil (1,300 mcg)/day. I have been taking pictures of the back of my head for the last 4 months, and my bald spot is getting smaller. :) They are working for me! I'm getting my hair back! Give them a try...especially the evening primrose oil.

So, while I'm not symptomless, but I'm feeling much better, and am making more progress at work. My personal relationships are improving, and I'm feeling more like myself. I may try acupuncture, too. I'm open to new things, so if you have anything to share, please let me know. Our doctors only know so much, and have so much time to help us. The rest we have to find on our own, so I hope you guys can find something that will help you feel better, faster, too!

Love,
Heather

" Thanks, you guys!
I should add that Daily strength, and you guys are really helping, too. My stress level was way up, and my educational levels about Graves disease were way down before I joined this group.
Your support has been more valuable than I could ever truly express, and I just wanted to thank you guys. I wish I could wave a magic wand over all of our heads and make us all better, and back to normal, but sharing our information and experiences is the next best thing.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! "

" Thanks for the info. It's nice to hear the things that are working!! I also started taking extra copper, an Omega 3 and started using eye drops more on a regular basis and my eyes improved! I'm not sure which of the three was the most beneficial, but I just keep doing all three to try to keep my eyes from getting worse again. "
