" I'm assuming you'll have a little fridge in your room? If so, keep some cottage cheese on hand. Deli meat is also good and can be eaten plain, chopped with a little lite mayo and pickle and eaten on soy crisps, or in lettuce leaves as a wrap. Keep soy crisps on hand as a snack. Plain Greek style yogurt (higher protein) with a few berries and some splenda makes a nice breakfast.

Think creatively in the dining hall as well. Do they have a sandwich bar where you can get all the makings for a sandwich except the bread? Maybe a few slices of turkey with some swiss cheese melted over the top in the microwave, or roast beef and cheddar. If they're serving soft tacos, ask for the meat, cheese, and lettuce without the tortilla or just open the tortilla shell and eat the insides.

HTH! "

" Definitely check out the sandwich bar if they have one!

If you talk to the dining hall manager and explain your situation, it is likely you would be able to get carry out. I know lots of dining facilities forbid take outs, so talking to the lead person would be beneficial.
Also talk to them about what is on the salad bar and ask them to mark if an item is reduced fat or fat free.
Ask them to make some adjustments too. If they have cottages cheese on the bar, ask them to start buying fat free. Many college dining facilities will work with you.
I am in grad school and will be spending next summer on campus in Kentucky, so I've been thinking of this too! "

" Soups, peanuts, canned ham and chicken are good in dorms. When I was in college and ate at the dining hall, they always had tons of carbs. Try to eliminate the bread and just go for the vegge's and meat. Just stay away from the carbs and sweets. You might also tell them to give you 1/2 a spoonful rather than a full serving when your in line "
