I have a 17month old baby that has allergies to cows milk and soymilk. i have only breastfeed him and i noticed at 2weeks old that he would get very fussy after i would eat cow produts.once he was able to eat soilds we started giving him soy products rather then meat. that ended shortly due to a lost of painful gas. after he tured a yr we tried giving him goats milk and he din't care so much for it. lactate is our what we are trying now he does drink a 0nce or two. but to me that just s not enough for my little guy. my oldest son had no food allergies so this is all new to me.

" I am also allergic to milk products and soy. I drink Rice milk. It comes in regular, vanilla, and chocolate. For an adult, it takes a bit to get used to, but for a child that young he shouldn't even notice any difference.

" We use Rice milk and they love it, there is also Almond milk which is very nutritious.
Try to work with a naturapath or someone who can make sure he is getting all his nutrients. We also use a supplement made by Floradix. "

" I bought the almond milk once...I don't remember exactly what was in it, but I believe it may have soy. I am so soy allergic that I can't even tolerate soy lecithin.

" Here is something weird: When I was a baby I was allergic to breast milk but my mom used regular milk (when I was old enough) and goat, formula and other types of milk as well. I think that my mom ate something that I was allergic to,but my mom isent to good with the allergy awareness thing, so I have to talk to my doctor about it alot.
I found out recently that chocolate give me migraines mostly dark chocolate tho. other chocolate will need to eat alot for the migraines to happen less then normal people bu t lees then dark chocolate. "

" My son was the same way. He's now 8. He drank vanilla Rice Dream rice milk when he was a year old. My son is now intolerant to rice too, so we use coconut milk for baking. Kids don't NEED milk (cow's milk, at least). Calcium can be found in other foods. We also give him 1 Children's Pepto Bismol (which is just bubble gum flavored calcium carbonate - same as Tums - it gives him calcium and settles his stomach). I make coconut milk yogurt. There is a really good coconut milk ice cream to be found at Whole Foods (and I'm sure other places). If it's a milk intolerance (more likely) vs. a lactose intolerance (less likely at that age), Lactaid is not going to help. "

" My daughter Becky was allergic to dairy products when she was little. We had to put her on Rice Dream milk and she loved it. Our ped told us to wiene her onto cows milk at 11 months old. She does very well now and can tolerate cows milk.
I do have a qquestion for you, Is the milk you tried to give him a store bought gallon? If it is he maybe having a reaction to the processes the milk goes through, like pasteurization. If you can find someone and just try it, where you can get milk straight from the bulk tank before it goes through the pasteurization processes. I am also allergi to dairy product and have been for 40 years. But when I can get milk from the bulk tank I do really well but I do have to be carefull with how much I drink. But if you try this remember to skim the top of the milk off because it will have the cream on top. it is not sour or anything and still drinkable. It is worth a shot. I can now tolerate milk from the bulk tank with out having a reaction everytime. If I drink the milk from the store I end up very sick. I dehydrate immediately, vomit profusely, have ver very bad gas and run a very high fever. I usually end up in the hospital. I would try getting milk from a farmer or something like that where the milk comes straight out of the bulk tank. The cream you skim off the top of the milk makes great homemade whipped cream. Just add a little sugar to it and whip until stiff peaks form.
I hope that I have helped some. I do know it is hell though and very hard being a kid and not being able to have ice cream, cheese etc, "
