Buffered vitamin C and/or antacid

I have been feeling crap for about five years and decided to do the "yorktest" which suggested I might be intolerant to gluten, eggs, milk and other things. I've been trying to avoid these foods since, and have been feeling much better. However, I remain a bit sceptical about food intolerance, and I wonder if there is actually another cause. I have found that when I'm feeling achy and depleted of energy, taking 500mg+ of buffered vitamin c and/or antacid tables seems to bring relief. These are alkaline products which makes me think that maybe the problem is over acidity. Has anyone else found this? Thanks Lip.

" I find reducing acidity can make a great difference. The anti-inflammation people believe that an over-acid system is associated with chronic inflammation, causing things like arterial plaque and diabtes. In fact the Macrobiotic people believe that balancing your acids and bases is the only real key to health. But I find it VERY confusing understanding which foods make your system too acidic, and more to the point, which ones would make it more alkaline when needed. Man cannot live on Tums alone. "
