Advice:
Should I join the gym?

I'm not big on working out. Most of my exercise is from walking throughout the day on campus (which is a lot!) and i do crunches, pushups, and other mild strength training almost every night. I start walking around the neighborhood and get bored. I've never found a home workout dvd that I have absolutely loved, and usually I find success when I am doing something different and with others for motivation. I am a college student so money is tight, but I want to get into shape. So any suggestions would be useful! THANKS!

" When possible, I always recommend a gym. I find it more motivating and there is so much help there. And, most gyms offer classes too. This opens your options as far as workouts go, and prevents boredom...which, I, myself suffer from. "

" With being a student do you have a gym at the campus you could use. My wife is going to school, and uses there gym.

I like gyms but sometimes they get crowded. So I go during off hours. That way I am not waiting for machines. Going to a gym or doing things at home is the same to me. As long as you actually do exercise it doesn't matter where you go. Staying at home and doing push ups and crunches is a great way to go. If you are getting bored on your walks then add the push ups and sit ups to your walk. Say walk a block then do 10 pushups and 10 situps then walk anothe block and do 20 and 20. You could also throw in some jumping jacks, mountain climbers, body squats to shake things up. Good luck in what ever you do. "

" Your health is pretty important, and without it, I don't think you will do as well at school.
So spending a few dollars on a membership at a gym would be worth it, in the long run.
Ask around to find out the various costs and also, ask about student discounts. There's always the Y, as I am sure they have group exercise classes that would be fun and cheap/free.

You should consider asking about a drop in type of membership. See if you can find a gym that allows you to pay on a per-visit.

if you need others for motivation, then the gym environment and group exercise classes are the way for you to go. "
