I'm currently withdrawn from school and received a notice about needing to contact my lenders to begin exiting the loan program. I'm currently unemployed and would like to go to school but cannot, because I can't obtain my transcript as a result of owing my former institution $5,000.00 from the Spring 2008 semester. I only have 3 semesters left before I'd earn my B.A. Any advice anyone can offer would be immensely appreciated.

First of all, contact your lender immediately and explain that you're currently not employed and ask for a forebearance. Secondly, go to the financial aid dept and speak with a counsler and ask if there's anything that can be done or assistance you can apply for. I suggest you take a year off from school and get a job. You might even consider attending college part time while you work full time. Yes, it will take longer to earn your B.A. but it can be done. I'm speaking from experience. I wasn't able to start college until I was 30. My daughter-in-law just received her Master's while working full time and attending school part time. Good luck.
