Divorce and starting over financially

I will be selling our house and splitting what little proceeds there are. My 401k and retirement money will be split as well. I'm 42 with not much to show moneywise. I need to change my attitude and habits with money. Budgeting, tracking spending better, increase income and create a positive cash flow. I'm reading about financial management, starting a business, etc.....Any recommendations on where to start, when you are starting over?

" depends on what you really want to do...changing your spending habits while at the same time trying to start a business can be a daunting task. The two in fact would be very different goals with very different skill sets.

Start off simple, tackle the small things that will impact your bottomline first...excel is your friend if you are even just a smidge computer saavy. Any specific questions, feel free to shoot me an email. "

" Just remember that divorce is the number one cause of people's standard of living declining. Nothing is as commonplace as that! The other thing is that you are in control of your destiny. You can't blame anyone else for foolish spending. Imagine your budget like a bucket of water. Does it leak? How can you stop the leaks? "
