Fibromyalgia Support Group

I started taking it for my headaches/migranes and it changed my life. After a couple of years I had to up the dose because my headaches started to come back. But it's nice because it helped me a lot and it does curb your appettite.

I have had tremors on top of Fibro, etc... or maybe it's part of Fibro.....anyway, finally had EEG, which showed I was having seizures every 3 minutes inside my head (for years)....doc gave me Keppra (similar to Topamax) - did wonders in 3 days so far - lifted my pain substantially - so ask doctor about Keppra too - I ususally do not tolerate meds well, but so far I feel less pain & trmeors....or try Topamx - tho some people get gassy & gain weight, some lose. I took Topamax and Keppra for migraines.

Terrible experiences, I will never touch them again.

You however may or may not have a good experience.

My new Rhemo mentioned taking Topamax as a fibro treatment, I told him no way!

I felt like a zombie when taking the topomax, it did help curb the migraines but made me feel too brain dead to work or drive, so I had to stop it after a short time

I just stated Topamax 2 weeks ago and I love it. It helps with the pain so much and it does curb your appetite. I hope you have good results with it.

I took Topamax fpr f years and had great reselts as migrain preventative, It also helps with weight loss. You must drink a lot od water with it as it can cause kidney stones in some people, and at higher doses it makes one very forgetful. I had ti stop teaching because my forgetfulness got so bad. I quit all meds in Feb. out of rebellion, had a heck of withdrawl and now I am just on Lyrica it seems to be working ok, DrV

I was on topamax for depression a few years ago and it made everything I ate taste like the most disgusting thing ever. If my Dr ever mentions that to me I will have to respectfully decline.

I was given Topamax (Topiramate) for migraines. I was on a very low dosage and experienced some very strong side-effects. My short-term memory was completely gone. I experienced slurred speach and loss of coordination.

However, I can only say that it was worth trying to know that I couldn't take it. You just have to be aware of the side-effects and connect the dots if they begin. Initially I found it did suppress my appetite, but this returned to normal after two weeks.
