Going to purchase one for my daughter. One hears alot about Dyson but after reading reviews some were good and some werent. Guess it depends if you spend the 600 dollars or the 300 dollars.

What is everyones opinion about a good vacuum and do they have one they are completely happy owning?

" I have a Dyson I love,, a 5 yr old one so it's not one of the newer spiffy ball turning ones but it is great. It is not lightweight and easily manueverable but it has never broken... (I repeat that for those of you who think you miss-read that with sweepers that break twice a year as mine always did in the past),,

It has NEVER broken, not even the belt when something gets stuck on it, though it makes a horrible squeel, the item need only be removed and it carries on.

It really doesn't lose suction as long as you keep the filter thing clean. I haven't used any of the other new sweeper jobbies to give you my opinion on anything else. Hope this helps! "

" I have one that sits in the basement It was suppose to be one of the best. It probably is if you have wall to wall carpets. We have wood floors and tile so it's not very good. This is something to consider when deciding what to buy. Mine was an impulse buy. "

" I have a Sears Kenmore vacuum cleaner and it cleans the dining room, living room and hall floor as well as my bedroom and my guest bedroom. It also has a button that you can push for hardwood floors, carpeting etc. I have had other vacuums in the past but this is the best one so far. "

" I have heard a lot of praise of the Dyson .

Unfortunately (LOL), I spent the mega bucks ten years ago for a Kirby. It weighs a ton, and just works as well as any other vacumn that I have owned in the past.

So I am waiting for the Kirby to croak out so I can purchase a Dyson. "

" DD,

Does she have pets or allergies? I ask because I bought a decent vacuum for allergies... doesn't stir up the dust too much and uses bags, which is supposed to be better for allergy sufferers. BUT, it doesn't pick up pet hair worth a sh**. When finances allow, I'll be getting a Dyson. I have two friends with Golden Retrievers and they swear by theirs. "
