Having a flare

You know I am going to try and say this tactfully, but nothing feels any worse on top of bad.... Like when you are having a flare , you stay in the bed a couple of days, usually a couple of crying spells due to pain, no good sleep in sight and just plain pain all over and no comfort whatsoever..Neverending prayers and request that it stop and then when you recover or you finally feel better you are up and around and maybe another woman in yr life says something like yea I get like that but I just tough it out, or just keep on pushing myself, I dont give into my pain..I believe that you just have to keep on going.....
My first response would be....well I am pushing thru, I got up didnt I ..and that I dont give into the pain it pulls me down and if I push any further Id die..I am a strong woman.. B4 this I was everything to everyone...I had no choice but to accept that this is me now. I wish people could just try for one minute to understand what we go thru. If it was just mere and not severe maybe we could push thru.. I think personally they are so used to us doing no matter what that they cannot see us in pain, because we never show it...Now I cannot help that it actually shows....But you know what regardless of what people say....I will keep on getting back up...However I wish people would stop stepping on us..it is a bit easier to get up, without a foot on top of you...trying to push you back down again...Our emotions do play a part in this....I think we must be strong or else we could not survive this...So keep in mind we are strong no matter what.. I know I need this type of atta boy when i am having a flare....We have fibromyalgia,,, they do not....There is a big difference...they just do not understand it...

" I hear you, girl. I'm so tired of other people's comments. That I "need to do this, or I need to do that", and I'll get better. They need to just keep their mouth's shut if they haven't walked a mile in our shoes. You just do the best you can, and leave them to themselves!!!!!! "

" Oh, that is one of my mom's favorite lines. "I hurt, but I push through." I've yelled back at her before, "Fine, I'm a wimp!" I mean, what do you say to something like that? Her hurt and my hurt are not the same. She can manage with just ibuprofin. My pain laughs at ibuprofin. Or maybe I am a wimp. I don't know. I just know a comment like that makes me feel like dirt. "

" Oh do I know what your going through. It really wizzes me off. I had people say I know I hurt to . I want to tell them take a freckin pill and get over it I wish I could. We have to be very strong people to go through something this severe, its not like having a toothache or a stubbed toe or even a brocken bone the pain is so much intense and different. I know I have had all three and did not stop I would just keep on keepen on but this has ate my lunch. I could go on all day about how people dont understand they could not phathom the pain we go through. Thats all we can do is get back up and fight and keep fighting... Your not alone I feel the same way Hope you fell better you will be in my thoughts..Hugs "

" I hear you! I get the same thing....anyone who is living with this is no wimp, I'll say that much! The people who make those comments just don't get what we're living with. I send you lots and lots of hugs (sorry they're kind of weak ones--I'm in a flare right now myself). I hope this passes quickly for you and that you're feeling better soon. "

" Well, after 20 yrs of this crap, you finally have to stand up for yourself because nobody else can. They can't understand. They are not in your shoes. I'm suggesting that anger and struggling against the attitudes of others does little good. It just makes you (me) feel like crap that you (I) yelled at my mother. If we can just learn to say no and then let it go, we can disengage a lot of that emotional garbage. Really, it's amazing what happens when you gently say no. Then teach by example. Peace and sleep to you. "

" People at work didn't believe how much pain I was in. They thought I was doing it for attention....until the Lyrica commercials came out. Then a girl came up to me one day and said "I saw a commercial for that problem you have. I'm sorry you are in so much pain." That was a good day. But not everyone is that accepting. "

" I am with you all here, and I have said this before but will say it again because I think we all need to hrar it,since coming to this site I have met some of the strongest people I have ever known and would like to say thank you for showing me just how strong you all are to deal not only with your diagnosis and all the pain, suffering appointments and dissappointments that go with it but with your dailt lives and the attitudes of the uneducated public.
Go, be strong and smile with an inner knowledge of your own strength and abilities when others try to put us down xxxxx "

" I agree with you. It used to really irk me when my coworkers would say things like that. I've been out of a job for a while but wonder what their thoughts are on the commercials. Somehow I'm not sure it makes any difference. "

" No, people don't understand. They don't get it and maybe they never will. It's frustrating and discriminating. Just because we have fibro doesn't make us less than they are. You know, the ones that don't understand have never experienced what we go through. They can only speculate what they would do.

I know you should never say never and be careful what you ask for.

I can give you two for instance......I said when I was a teenager that I would never be fat. I would just run until it was gone. Well I have eatten my words!

The other is that I always wished that my life would slow down. I just wanted to relax and have time to read a book. Be careful what you ask for. I went from running full speed ahead to a slow roll. Life change.

People that say things like push through the pain, just don't have a clue. "
