Growth on inside of hand

Hi all:

I have a hard growth on the inside of my hand near the index finger the size of an almond. I noticed it about a week ago. Every once in awhile I would use the hand in such a way that it would HURT. I stopped to really look at it, and felt a growth. It's been there for at least a couple of months - or the pain has been there that long, but since with fibro most everything hurts, I didn't pay any special attention.

A provider at work looked at it and said it was "trigger finger". I just read about "trigger finger" and I have none of the symptoms of it - it does not describe me at all.

Anyone every run into this? My medical insurance just switched again, and I'm hoping to see if we can get me a complete rundown of what's up. I have some of the symptoms of connective tissue disease - and get back some crappy blood work results.

Thanks for any comments you all may have.

Blessings,
Jan

" I dont exactly know about your finger. I HAVE heard of trigger finger but for the life of me, cannot remember what I was told about it.

But I thought this was interesting because I have a place on the back of my wrist near the wrist bone kinda. Kinda closer to on the back of hand. You can only see it if you point your hand down bending the wrist down. It has never bothered me and my hubby just thought it was because I am so "boney" he calls it.

I asked my Mom and she had it one time and it just went away and her dr said it was a ganglia. So when I went to the Dr. (rheumy) I asked him what is this? He said that is a ganglia! If it is bothering you we can drain it right now! UGHHHH!! I said no thank you. I'll wait.
Doesn't that sound disgusting...ganglia??? Gross! But he said it is nothing, kind of like a cyst that is not dangerous. Whew!

I wonder if they can be in the place that you have going? Thought maybe you could at least ask. Apparently, "back in the day" says my mom, they used to slam yoour wrist on the windowsill with the window to get rid of these things i have. Could you imagiine!! That doesnt even sound smart.

Well, I dont know if any of this helps but it is worth asking if that could be it. I just dont know. Have a great painfree day!! :) "

" My brother is 40, he works with his hands building cabinetry for airplanes. He has a condition that causes his tendons to bunch up. He's had surgery for one to "release" it. He was told the surgery can only be done once for each tendon. His doctor also told him he will become completely disabled because of this. Of course I can't remember what it's called.

I hope you don't have what my brother has. I hope you find out you can do some exercises targeting whatever is happening and fix it. Maybe if you get some blood work done you'll find your low on something and taking a pill will fix it!

Here's to hope!
Laura "

" Hey Mamatheresa:

You were ALOT more helpful that my doctor at work!!!!! I just check WebMD for ganglion cysts, and that sounds alot more like what this is. They are normally at the wrist (like you described on yourself), but can be on the hands, and connected to bone or tendon. I'm thinking whatever this is is connected to tendon. It has actually been less painful since I discovered it, as at least once a day I am poking at it! When I finally get to my new primary care, I'll have them take a look - they can ultrasound it to make sure it just a cyst. Mine feels really hard, so I hope they will do the ultrasound.

Thanks again!

Blessings,
Jan "
