" I CAN SO RELATE TO THE DRS. NOT GIVING YOU ANYTHING FOR SLEEP. HAVE YOU TRIED PHYSICAL THERAPY YET? I UNDERSTAND THE JUST DROPPING OFF TO SLEEP WHEN YOU SIT DOWN. i HAVE FOUND NO COFFEE, TEA, OR POP AFTER 2 P.M.
AND KEEPING MYSELF BUSY IN THE AFTERNOON HELPS A GREAT DEAL. I WALK MILES, OR RIDE MY BIKE.. SOME DAYS I AM IN BED BY 8ISH.... I AM TAKING AN ANTI DEPRESSANT AND SLEEPING BETTER AT NIGHT NOW. I STILL HAVE A FEW NIGHTS WHERE I DO NOT SLEEP WELL. MY NEIGHBOR AND FRIEND JUST FOUND OUT SHE HAS FIBRO TOO, COULD IT BE SOMETHING IN THE WATER? ANY HOW WE DRANK A BOTTLE OF WINE SAT. NIGHT AND WE BOTH SLEEP WELL, WITH OUT TAKING THE ANTI DEPRESSANT.HOPE YOU FIGURE THIS OUT. MUCH LOVE AND MANY HUGS. "

" Hi Trish,

Boy, it is frustrating when our docs are in foul moods! I'd just chalk it up and schedule another appointment to 're-chat' with him. Or, write a quick letter for him. nothing hostile just let him know you could tell something was on his mind and you left somewhat confused.

I've been in menopause since I was 32 for a total of 8 frickin' years with no doc who will help. I have found that the over the counter soy based menopause supplements with the sleep aid ingredient to be very helpful with sleep, night sweats, itching, and umm, desire. It's about $13 for a month.

As for naps, do what your body tells you to do. I agree with Kimmy that staying busy in the afternoon helps me but, sometimes the the fatigue is too much to handle. I'd just not nap after 2 or so.

:)K "

" Yeah....been told the same thing. I've tried it all and none of it seem to make a difference. In my opinion, you catch your sleep when you can.

I would give it some time and then make another appt and hopefully he will be in a better mood. No telling what was going on in his personal life that was making him so sharp. True the tests may come back negative, but it won't hurt to do them and it will help ease your mind, which should be the most important thing.

I hope you can get some relief. Gentle huggles.... "

" Sorry to hear the doctor appointment did not go so well. Sleep is as individualized as each person. If you are tired take a nap. Have you thought about trying to do a sleeping log and actually tracking just how much sleep you are getting in a week. often your body once it gets into this irregular sleep pattern has to be retrained and patterned when to sleep. My schedule is nuts and I sleep at all different times. I would try some of the suggestions here. If you could even try going for walks short distances, that would help with the diabetes too. "

" I was told by a doc that I can nap but if I go over twenty minutes then its bad as it will make you feel more tired and groggy. I tried it and for me it works quite bad I set the alarm for twenty mins and then get up slowly and I feel a little better for it. Maybe you should give it a go? "

" I am sorry that you did not have a very good doctor appt. It's hard when doctors get in a mood. I think that if you're tired then you should take a nap but not in the late afternoon or evening.

About the lab tests, tell him you want them done. He should be willing to do them to put your mind at ease. He said MOST come out negative. That doesn't mean that all are negative and you could be one of the patients that comes out positive.

Two things that have really helped me to sleep better at night is taking 5 HTP and melatonin. You said you don't want anything to help with sleep but these are over the counter supplements that you might consider trying. But if you do you should check with your doctor first.

You should also schedule another appt and tell him that there was some confusion from your last appt and you want to have those issues resolved. I hope you can get things figured out. "
