Grocery Shopping & Delivery Service :)

Don't know about anyone else, but grocery shopping is the equivalent to being tossed into the firey pit of hell for me! Between pushing a heavy cart, reaching & bending to retrieve items from shelves, lifting heavy bags, and the complete sensory overwhelm of all the lights, noises, smells, and rude/impatient people practically running me over in the aisles - I just leave the store in tears every time. Every last little bit of energy is drained out of me. Plus, it takes me FOREVER -- Even with a list b/c the stupid fibro fog hits and I can't even focus.
I wondered if there was any such thing as a grocery delivery service available. I did a google search and found this site. www.wegoshop.com I guess they are priced independently depending upon your location, but from what I can see, it's pretty darn reasonable...when you figure the person is spending probably at least an hour shopping, PLUS using their gas to deliver the groceries to you. I haven't tried them yet, but it is def on my short list of things to do to help myself cope with this sucky FMS! Hope the info helps! :) Posted on 07/03/08, 10:07 pm |

Carts with cup holders! I want to shop there! But I don't mind the shopping because hubby and I do it together, and I push the cart because it gives me something to lean on that doesn't scream "disabled!" :)
I kind of enjoy seeing what's there - always makes me feel good when we make good choices instead of "fake food" :) I also love the smell of coffee beans and fresh produce, but I have to stay away from the bakery - too much temptation LOL

Yes grocery shopping should be Dante's 10th circle of hell! I try to go at times when I know there will not be a lot of people. Sometimes crowds freak me out....also running into people who I went to high school with and not being able to remember names right away!
Anyway I usually go on Mondays. I live in the same town I work in, so I go during my lunch hour. I always buy a gallon of milk, so I won't have to keep going to the store but I pay for it in spades having to haul it and the rest of the groceries up 3 flights of stairs! The other thing I do is make out the shopping list as I need things, but then before I go, re-write it so that it goes in order of the aisles in the store, so that the next thing on the list is in the next aisle, not halfway across the store! This helps big time with the fog! Honestly, I call out for dinner a lot to avoid food shopping! Especially on fog days! Heather

I hate grocery shopping.I usually put it off 'till there is nothing left to eat!My son went with last time.Thats a great help.I won't shop where I have to bag my own.I know in the bigger cities they have grocery delivery but I'm not sure how much extra it is.If I have to buy heavy things I make sure someone can help load and unload the car.(sister,my son, nephew etc.)I like to shop but I sometimes get anxiety thinking about it if I have no help. And yes I too have roamed around in a fog LOL!HUGS!

I rarely go grocery shopping alone. I get tired pretty quickly and need the help. My son or daughter usually go with me. I shop well with either of them. Hubby and I do not shop well together. I use the cart to lean on too.

I use our Byerly's / Lund's delivery service or I can order and they have personal shoppers who have the order ready for me to pick up later that day.
Or I do Simon Delivers....both are the same, and are local here in the Twin Cities area. With having two kids to lug with me and then haul them home and groceries....it's just too much. I gladly pay people $ to have them shop and deliver it to my front door! It's wonderful! Oh, and there is Schwan's Delivery too!! They have frozen items. And with as much milk we go through, I've been tempted to have Kemps Delivery bring in milk too. Anyone else in the Twin Cities....I'd highly recommend any of the above!!!

Yep, I'm a leaner like Sue and my hubby goes with. He and I both share this illness and we actually enjoy the shop together thing. It may kick our butts by the time we drive home, but we enjoy this outing.

Check with your store. Some stores will offer to have an employee help you. Or if you belong to a church check with them they may have volunteers that will go with you to help you while you shop. I go with a friend some times and it makes it more enjoyable.
