I know that some of you remember when I started the Neurotin back in Feb. of this year and how it was my miricle drug for me. I started it on Feb.25 and the very next day I was pain free and have been until about 2 weeks ago and then the pain started creeping back into my joints and tendons and coursing thru my body again. I went thru a big deprssion for about a month thinking that it was the Chantix and now realizing that it may be a mix of the 2 drugs and knowing that I have to come to the reality that they aren't going to work forever for me. I am greiving the loss of my freedom from the pain and for not being strong enough to stop smoking on my own with out the help of meds. My life was great for the time that I was pain free and I have that to be thankful for and I am, so thankful for it. I was able to do the things that I couldn't do for along time and I frolicked in the grass and let the sun blow thru my hair and lean back and lay on the ground and look up into the sun, I was so blessed that I forgot it was the meds that were doing it, but too soon it has come to my attention that I am coming back to live with the disease again and am not ready for it with all the aches and pains of Fibro but I am so thankful for the time's that I did have when the meds were working for me.I go see the pain Dr. this thurs. in hoe for another pill to keep me from feeling the pain again, but knowing that in my mind that I'm just fooling myslef and that nothing is forever except my love for God, so I hope that you thought and prayers go with me when i go into her office in search of yet another drug to free me from this living diease yet again.......I love you all............Helen

So Sorry that I'm not clear, kinda in a fog. I was on the Neurotin since Feb.25 and started the Chantix about 2 months ago and took it for a month and had quit smoking for 1 month, then I went into a huge depression I think from the Chantix, that was the only new drug that I had started recently. Oh man was it a bad one too, so I took myself off of the Chanitx and came back pretty quick from the depression. Now with the Neurotin, I started it onFeb 25 and was pain free until about 2 weeks ago, totally pain free, but 2 weeks ago I started feeling the pain from the joints and tendons and muscles again, so the only thing I can think of is that the Neurotin is not working as good as it used to. I'm only up to 2400 mgs and know that the max dose that I can take is 3600 which isn't too far away from where I am at now. So to put it all together, I'm smoking again and starting to feel the aches and pains again from all the meds not working(neurotin) & (chantix, left me too depresed to get out of bed) That is alot and I hope that I made better sense this time.......Helen

Hi hun...sorry to hear that neurotin is not working now.. was so nice to hear you were finally pain free.. god only know what the answer is for our pain.. I think way to much about it.. I often wonder why only certain ppl get this horrific crap?? I also have strong faith in god.. and always pray for strength to get thru each day.. neurotin didnt work for me .. made me jumpy and irritable. so Im still on tramadol every 4hrs around the clock and valium for anxeity from the pain.. or when i get upset.. even a small disagreement sets off my pain.. I will pray you find something to ease the pain coming back again.. I wish everyone hear didnt have to suffer as we do.. I try not to let this steal my joy.. but it does.. every chore is a chore.. sweating from pain.. keep us updated hun.. much love and hugs your way.. :)

Bless you Trish,
It is hard to go from one extreme to another. I want a body transplant now, that coming from Becca... I know I have to face this and sure don't want to but I know that with God I can do anything and all things.I thank you for the love that you show me and please know that I love you in return......Helen

Chantax is very bad for people. If you have any liver problems at all Helen that could have caused it for sure.I am still on 1800 mg.It is still helping the pain some but it never took it away altogether. Yes depressing to go back to the pain.

I am so so sorry to hear that this hasn't given you relief for the foreseeable future, but like you I am glad that you had some time free from pain. I am concerned as I am taking these meds also and have been enjoying lessened pain over the last few weeks. I guess it just goes to show they really don't know how to stop this illness.
I will pray your pain eases again for you, stay your positive and bubbly self! Kathy xxx

Helen, hey I'm on the Neurontin too, and before you give up, try increasing it to the 3600. I say this because any lower dose for me didn't help at all. This is the dose that is working for me. I don't think I suffer any distinct side effects. I take my Tramadol with it too. I'm not sure how well it would work on its own for me. Have you ever used Tramadol? Anyway, try increasing the dose before you give up on it. I just really needed to tell you this, since I think it was interesting that any lower dose of the Neurontin didn't work for me. My dr. says that often times this is THE therapeutic dose for people. I will say a prayer for you Helen, and don't give up trying to get relief of your pain, or at least partial. It's too hard to be in pain everyday of our lives, and personally I will take whatever I need to so the quality of my life is greater. Hugs to you. Please keep me informed. I care!! Linda
