FDA Investigates Potential FM Drug Friday, May 16, 2008 FMOnline, vol. 8, no. 5 Recently the US Food and Drug Administration opened an Investigational New Drug Application to conduct a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled Phase II clinical trial of oral flupirtine for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Approved as a treatment of pain in Europe since 1981, oral flupirtine—a non-opiate analgesic—has never been approved for any indication in the United States. Used for post-surgical pain, cancer pain, trauma pain, pain associated with liver disease, and other nocioceptive pain states, oral flupirtine is anticipated to be effective for neuropathic pain since it acts in the central nervous system. OMG i looked this up and went to the site of the drug company and this sounds so good. They did a study at the begining and it helped four out of five people. I mean not only did it help with the pain but the fatigue, insomnia, conscentration,and it dont have near the side effects as lyrica. Why have the damn FDA already approved this drug it has been used in Europe for 25 years with great success. I want it now........Well good things come to those who waite...This was great hope....Thank you Dolly I needed a lift up....Wy
