Tramadol/Ultram

I need to try something different - can those of you who are doing well on Tramadol/Ultram tell me what dosage you are taking and how many times a day so I will know what to ask my doctor for?

I tried it once before (after Vioxx was taken off the market) but I think I thought it would be like Vioxx and didn't take it often enough. I was so devastated to lose my "miracle drug" that I probably wasn't paying attention to the instructions.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Blessings,

Sue

" I was on Tramadol for a few months...It seemed to help in the beginnig, but stopped working for me. I started having bad sweating and not much pain relief. My Dr. switched me to Neurontin (Gabapentin) and it helps alot. Good luck, I know it works for others here.

" I don't remember my dosage but I do remember that it helprd a lot. My Ins doesn't cover it now so I can't take it any longer. Besides it shouldn't be taken with Prozac anyway. Oh, well. :( "

" Sue, Ultram is the med that really helps me the most. I started out taking 1 tab ( i believe it is 50mg) anywho there is only one strength of Ultram... but I started taking 1 tab 1-2 times a day, and it really helped... fibro was much less at that time. I now take 1-2 tabs three times a day. Keeps things tolerable most of the time. For break thru pain I use Lortab. Many time Ultram will give you a bit of a "buzz" or light headed feeling of some sort. It helped with the pain so much I kept it up and that feeling passed in about 2 weeks. I have taken Ultram now for 5ish years. Hope this helps... "

" I have been on Tramadol for over a yr now. I take 300 mg a day. Each pill i have is 50 mg so i take 6 a day. They say DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN 400 mg a day. It worked really well at first. Start your dosage low maybe 1 pill a day then u will eventually build up a tolerance and you can up your dosage a pill. Thats how now i am on 300 mg a day. I can get 180 pills a month for $12 @ WalMart. they added it in my area Walmart to that $4.00 generics list so that helps so much. If you check around, like here Giant Eagle Pharmacy has the $4 generics too but Tramadol is NOT on there. I learned that the hard way LOL. Good luck to you and i hope that it helps you. "
