i have been having pain throughout my whole body for over 2 years, the gp thinks its fibromyalgia and is sending me to rheumatoligist, but over the last month i have noticed parts of my body e.g my thighs, tops of my feet and the palm of my hand, they hurt to touch on tender points but if i bash those area i feel nothing they feel numb and i have started to get a tingerling feeling like pins and needles in my feet, are these normal symptoms for fibromyalgia any advice would be appreciated as my gp has told me nothing except this is what he thinks it is.

Sounds very similar to how my FM started. pins and needles, tingling, numbness. But, I also have several pinched nerves and degenerative disc, so I don't know which is the cause. What are the pains like? I know FM can be different for everyone, but for me it is like a muscle ache, with shooting pains. Seeing the Ruem. is the best idea, but I kinda knew before I was diagnosed. I hope it something simple, but if it is FM, this group is like a lifeline for me. Welcome.

yes thats how I started, when I first started with fibro when I got up in the morning my feet were numb and would not support me. I would fall down 3 or 4 times b-4 I could understand something was wrong. I would go to the dr and they could not find anything wrong lol.

Sounds exactly the way I feel. Although the pins and needles in my feet and legs go away at times, but come back again. There are certain parts of my body where there is a constant ache and other times stabbing pain. I take vicodin twice a day and it does help, but not enough. I don't want to get too dependent on it. Here's hoping you can find some relief.

yep, I'm so sorry you have joined the Fibro "club". :( I still get pins and needles, tingling etc.
I find taking supplements including magnesium, vitamin D, malic acid, fish oil and garlic have really helped. I take a vitamin B12 capsule about once every 2 weeks (when I remember) too.

Your symptoms do sound like those of fibromyalgia, but you might have to have a test done just to make sure you have no nerve damage. It is called an EMG, and I've had 3 of them already in different places, and they are no big deal. With me, they all came out negative, yet my pain can feel very electric at times with sharp, stabbing pain. I do get tingling, numbness, and pins & needles too.
