Side Effects of Lyrica

I received my diagnosis two days ago for Fibromyalgia after major extensive testing, and my doctor put me on Lyrica. I took the pill Tuesday night for the first time and then both doses yesterday. My first dose of the morning made me feel litterally tipsy, like I had drank 3 or 4 beers. Is this normal? Also is it too soon to be retaining water from this pill as well? When will I feel relief from the pain and will it completely go away while I am on this medication? Will I have to take this medication for life? Can I take diet pills or diuretics with this medication? WOW I didn't realize I had that many questions until I got rolling...

" Even at low doses, i couldn't tolerate Lyrica. It caused such severe swelling in my hands that I would wake up screaming.

I don't see any change for me using Guaifenisen. But, neurontin helps.

Each person has different body chemistry, so you have to judge for yourself whether the benefits outweigh the risks.

" I have been on Lyrica since last summer. I really haven't had many of the bad side effects-just the hunger, so I have to watch what I eat. It was working really well for a few months, so the DR. increased the dose. When he did that, it didn't help as much. I was going to stop it, but I decided to go back to the original dose. The biggest effect is that it makes my skin not so sensitive to touch. If you're like me, even someone touching your skin hurts, sometimes a lot. So at this point , that is my main reason for staying on it. I'm on so many other meds for my lupus and breast cancer, it just fit in. Hope you start feeling better. God Bless! Kathy "
