New here.....just wondering

Hi, I am new here. I am Amy a 37 wahm in Nebraska and newly diagnosed with NAFLD.

So new, that I actually recieved the phone call an hour and a half ago, and am going in to see my doctor today.

Anyhoo....Since I was scheduled for the ultrasound, I have read all of the articles I could find, ad nasuem, but I wonder has anyone had any symptoms associated with nafld that are not mentioned....primarily light headedness, facial tingling or joint pain. I have high blood pressure, hyppothyroidism and anxiety, and I just wonder if it is from one of these or my liver.

Also, my doctor has said for the last 3 years at least that my liver panels were high, and now he tested me. In the last month, my feet and calves and knees are swollen, and I have joint pain. I am scared because all the research that I have read said that in the beginning most people are pretty
"symptom-less". I have several of them on the list, including nausea, edema, trouble concentrating, weakness, malias, fatigue, etc. When you guys were diagnosed, did you have a lot of symptoms, or did you just look back and think, "oh...that makes sense.."?

I guess that I am more afraid because I do not know what is going on.....Hopefully sooon I will have some answers.

Thanks for letting me write my book here....lol...I am scared and not feeling well today, and am anxious for my appt in 2 hours.....
thanks again...amy

" Hi there. I also had elevated levels for a few years and the Dr's just ignored it. I repeatedly went to the Dr, as I was awfully tired, swollen, sores on skin, dingy. Come to find out my ammonia levels were very high and the toxins were poisoning my system. The Dr's I saw did not do anything about it. I found a Dr. that worked with the liver and I have been of various meds which helped the swelling to go down, the sores to go away and I can think alot clearer. Not perfect, but better. Hope you have a Dr who is proactive and looks for these things. Otherwise it seems like a lonely world out there. My thoughts are with you!! Suzes "

" I have added some good sites to the discussion, Medicine.net explained alot to me. I know my gastro said i had a somewhat fatty liver just lose a lb a week, Then few weeks ago I took tylenol and KAPOW I got hot then inflammation all throughout my liver, Called her office and the nurse said it will go away stay away from tylenol. I made an appt and the nurse said you were just here in Nov, I said that was for a colonscopy not my liver. I wanted to say, if you didnt have patients you would have no paycheck. So discouraging, I should have said I will just find another dr, but that dr has no idea what that nurse is saying to people, But still couldnt get in for a few weeks, So tried milk thistle and trying to eat no fats, like before, I just wish when I gained this weight years ago and got acid reflux all those drs I saw would have said, being overweight can cause cirrhosis, I think they should warn us. but acorrding to mayo clinic and other sites its the new silent killer and they probably dont know what to do either. Just kicking myself I didnt lose weight slowly earlier. I made a list of my symptoms to take to the dr, they are so easy to forget it all. I get hot then itchy feeling all over at times. my entire right side and under my breast is inflamed no matter what. I cant sleep. Liver feels tender and swollen. Bruises I dont know how they got there. Muscle cramps on top of feet that ASOS said could be from cirrhois. my blood pressure is higher then use to be. I dont know I put alot in the discussion group but no one responds back. Whats new lol "
