My brother has cancelled his appointment at U of PA for his transplant. He has multiple myeloma and was scheduled for the first week of August. His current meds are not working. Feeling helpless as can be...our family is devastated.

I know it must be SO hard but try to honor his wishes and just be there for him. It is hard to accept someone's wishes sometimes but he is doing what he feels is right for himself. Love him unconditionally.... Hugs and strength, Alice

Yes. You must feel very confused and not able to understand. However, these are his wishes. I know it is hard, but he has decided to go a different path. Love him unconditionally and accept his choice of treatment. Hugs to you. bsbrm

i think sometimes its hard for family and friends to understand how someone can refuse treatment for cancer. however, the treatment is so damaging to the body and also to the emotional state of the patient... and there isn't always a benefit of treamtment...
i think its important to do research and try to understand the decision, but it may also be helpful to check out other alternatives to chemo and radiation, such as special diets and supplements which are known to have helped lengthen life and sometimes induce a cure.... i would advice you make this a family activity and concentrate on the alternatives, if traditional methods are not what he wants. refusing hospital treatment doesn't always have to mean a certain death. stay strong, my thoughts are with you and the family

As hard as it is, you have to support him with his decision. I KNOW that if I am told I have inoperable cancer, I am NOT going to opt for chem, I would rather have a shorter time, than a sick, longer time. I wish you all the best, but always BE there for him, Hugs, Alice
