Chemo is not working for my Dad and we are moving onto targated radiation for the tumor in his lung and the tumor growing on the lymph node close to the other lung. Becuase my dad already has issues with GERD I know that this radiation, which will pass through this troubling area will make it very hard for him to eat. We all know how much our loved ones have to eat to be strong enought to keep with treatment!

So my question is do any of you have any recipies or web sites where I can get recipies for high calorie, high proten meal shakes? I have found a few on caring for cancer but am looking for something someone has actually eaten and found to be ok. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

" My dad stopped eating so we give him a protein shake called Boost, which can be found at any grocery store. It has a lot of other vitamins and minerals in it as well, and 240 calories per bottle. I think he likes the chocolate and vanilla flavors. And I believe when he is in the hospital, they give him Ensure to drink. "

" Sorry, I didn't know they were only a supplement. One boost is usually all my dad has for an entire day. Hope your dad is doing better! "

" My mother's ovarian cancer had eaten into her colon before it was found, so she had to have major surgery to her colon. Because of it, she couldn't eat for three months. Both her doctor and oncologist recommended four-six Boosts a day - it kept her going until she could eat again. "

" Baked Potatos are good my husbands chemo nurse told him that would help keep his potassium up.
And baked chicken is really gentle on his stomach. "
