" 2blue, have you talked to a doc about your tremor. The most common places to have essential tremor are in the hands & head. Inderal is no big deal to take, I feel no side effects though I think it can make some people sort of sleepy since as I understand it it slows down your heart rate.
As I said in my profile I've been treated for tremor for about 5 yrs. Despite being on Inderal for it, I've recently noticed my hands have begun shaking a little again when I'm working (I'm a photographer) or in other anxious situations. My work situation as a photog has changed & I don't know if part of it is just adjusting ot he new situations & that making me overally anxious.I don't know if this is normal with essential tremor or its just general anxiety, but i've also often feel like my whole body, especially upper body, is vibrating/light shaking. Its driving me nuts sometimes. I think I'm going to talk to doc bout raising dosage on Inderal. From research I've done today it seems like I'm on a low dosage for it (60mg/day), when apparently normal is around 120mg with some people going as high as 240 to 320. "

" They think my tremor was originally brought on by anxiety and soon after he tremor strted i was diagnosed with a panic/anxiety disorder. If you get ontop of the tremor now then it won't progress but because i am still awaiting treatment after three years, (UK hospitals = hopeless) mine has progressed to such an extent that they probably won't be able to treat it anyway. " spoh Have any doctors mentioned "essential tremor". tha's the condition I have. It sort of the opposite of Parkisons. In Parkisons your hands will shake when at rest, whith essential tremor they shake when you pcik something up or are doing something with your hands. I've found that stress/anxiety will defintiely make it worse though. Inderal has worked pretty well for me though I think I need my dosage increased. The only down side I've found from it is that my hands & feet will get cold, this is because Inderal slows your heart rate so you don't have as much bood flow to hands/feet to keep them warm. "

" Yes, i was diagnosed with a static and kinetic beingn essential tremor of childhood in august of last year. It's not rly a definite diagnosis though, because they can't actually do any tests for it. It's quite scary the fact that it could be a misdiagnosis and there could be a more serious condition. "

" I was DX w/BET in 2005, but never put on meds. As symptoms progressed, I was upgraded to Parkins(PD) and am taking 25/100mg Sinemet 4x's day. My new Internist added 10mg Inderal 3x's day because Sinemet peaks and then wears off, Inderal helps keep the tremors at bay. And another advantage, it is also taken to eleviate Anxiety and it works, most of the time. "

" 2blue, I have a bad head tremor. Some in the hands, but not as bad. Yes, anxiety does worsen them as well as stress and caffeine. Also, if you're overly tired as well. I get a massage once in awhile and that helps relax me. I've taken Inderal in the past and quit taking it a long time ago. Recently I was put on Mysoline which I quit after 1 week because of the side effects. I'm now trying acupuncture. Have gone twice and it seems like it's helping some. "

" My head tremor and slight hand one certainly gets worse with anxiety and stress.
If your tremor is not there at other times, they may be ways you can cope by helping with the anxiety? "
