Seens how we are all talking so much about these, maybe it's the full moon but I had a similar thing happen to me last night....I have been having tonic clonics for 35 yrs. Lately around my period and this stupid menopause I have been having them monthly. Last night at 3:30am husband woke up to me groaning loudly (like a seizure) he turned on the lights to see me and I was completely stiff (like a t/c) and said my name and I "woke up" now I KNOW that you can't 'wake' a person out of a seizure but what the heck do you think this was? me dreaming about a seizure? lol? or this sleep paralysis thingy????

" I don't know if it's sleep paralysis or a bad dream, and you're right, you cannot be woken up out of a seizure! You have your seizures around your period? I do- it's called Catamenial Epilepsy, and the root cause is insufficient levels of Progesterone. I just started Progesterone Replacement Therapy in addition to my Trileptal, and so far, I am doing very well! Have your Neuro write a letter to your GYN and have your GYN put you on Progesterone. It will make a big difference! "

" Hi,
My seizures have changed alot over the more than 30 yrs of having them. They changed again drastically again when I started menopause. All those hormones getting messed up and shook up again in our lives. Lucky us. You may have had a seizure and your "waking" when your husband called your name could very well be a coincidence.
It's quite a mix going on. Woman - menopause - seizures -age. My drs told me all of these things affect us and how our bodies react. I also only had grand mal all those years but once menopause started it all changed and is never the same now. Who knows where this will all be when menopause finally is over. "

" I agree that you where probably coming out of a night seizure and it was just ironic....I have alot of problems with seizures in my sleep but i have always had a sense of flashing lights before any type of seizure so i can warn someone. "

" Well, I know i can force myself to have a seizure, but I doubt that i can stop a seizure in mid stream. I do retain conciousness, however. i agree that it may be coincdence, or maybe the light flashing on triggered a subliminal response that ended the seizure. i dont know. Definately check into it. "
