Hi cats--
I'm new to this group. I've been having seizures for about 5 years now. I also play rock music, and on December 1st, will be helping a friend put on an epilepsy research benefit rock show. All the money we make will go to epilepsy research. But I'm not sure how to get the word out-- I've gone to the EpilepsyFoundation's website and found some local support groups to email, but does anyone know of other geographically-based epilepsy message boards? I really want other people dealing with epilepsy to come to the show, enjoy it, and be encouraged by the support of our local community. Help? Thanks, Ella Posted on 11/23/07, 09:11 pm |

All fantastic advice everyone who replied has given. The flyers and newspapers and stations are great!! You can also go to local neurologist's offices and ask them to spread the word. Some may let you, some may not. I wish you all the luck, if I had the money to come...trust me, I would!! I think you are doing something wonderful. Great idea!

Hi--
Thanks everybody for so many suggestions! We have made beautiful fliers and are handing them out like candy-- so I'll drop some by the local neurologist's office. I'm also talking to college radio stations about doing a PSA. In case anyone is in or near Western Massachusetts-- the show is on December 1, at the Elevens nightclub in Northampton, at 8pm. It's five dollars! and 21+. So far, we have booked Abeja, The Cheaters Club, Apocalipstick, The John Bobbit Experience, Thrillpillow, and Ella Longpre (that's me), and more to come! It will be a lot of fun. If you want to come but don't have the cash-- please let me know. Thanks again guys!
