I did some research and started to pay more attention to my seizure. So far they are no where near controlled, I am having more now that its summer. Does the heat have anything to so with my seizures? I couldnt find the answer in research and still cannot reach my nero, just his asst. and they do nothing but tell me to increase my meds. So does the heat trigger them? i want to try to avoid things that might trigger my seizures.
thanks

" It is possible, but there could be several factors at work here. It may be that with the nicer weather you are becoming more active as well and not allowing yourself the rest you need. Bad sleep pattern and lack of enough rest is a huge seizure trigger.

The way to find out for sure is to keep track of how much time you are spending in the heat compared to when your seizures are occurring--keep a journal of what you are doing each day and how much time you have spent int he heat. If there is a pattern you have found a trigger. "

" Heat can be a factor. Just as with a febrile seizure, the increase in body temp. seems to effect seizure activity. "

" From my own experience, I found that heat does trigger my seizures. I have starring seizures that increase and when I feel my body over heating, a petit mal will happen if I don't ice down. "

" Hi! I have to be really careful with heat! (and my specialist is fully aware of this fact). Things related to heat can be anything from my body temperature going up or it being hot outside, to me standing next to the oven, or the sun shining through the car window onto my head! Any of these things can trigger my seizures, and I know from experience that changing medication can make absolutley NO difference.

Are you writing a seizure diary? I started one recently, noting down my seizures with possible triggers, and this has really helped both me and my doctors. Good luck.xxx "

" Yep. Heat will do it to me. From the age of 9 to 46 there is enough experience with this. I always wear a hat in the summer, and find a cool place in the heat of the day. Take care. "

" So funny you mention it. I live in New York and the past week has been exceptionally hot and humid. This past Thursday I went for a walk under the hot sun in the middle of the day and had a couple of seizures.

I've also found that I have more seizures when the temperature changes regardless of whether it gets hotter or colder. Has anyone else experienced this? "
