" I also have Simple Partial Seizures.

The only advice I can give is make sure you get plenty of rest, exercise etc. These really do help with quality of life. "

" I am also very interested in learning about simple partial seizures. Did anyone ever have it show on an EEG machine? My son was diagnosed with these as well as another type 2 years ago but just recently he had one while hooked up to an EEG and it didn't show up as a seizure so now they are saying they are not seizures(very confusing). He is only 7 so he describes them as something coming very close to his eyes. What symptoms do you have? "

" Mabou: Mine never showed up on EEG either.

Infact to begin with my doctor said they were aura's associated with my migraines. However they finally sent me to a neurologist who explained that the migraines were a result of the seizures.

With my seizures I can fully function during them, and am completely aware of what is going on. I have auditory hallucinations, an overwhelming sense of dejavu, and dont bother trying to speak because it comes out as gibberish.

The worst thing for me is the after effects. They leave me with a horrendous migraine, feeling very confused, anxious and unsettled. All I can really do is go to bed and sleep it off.

Not sure if any of this info helps, but its always good to share experiences. "

" I believe that simple partial seizure is also known as an aura. I have complex partial seizures, so mine start out with simple partial...Most of the time all I have is simple partial. My EEG showed a sharp spike in my temporal lobe. My first nuero said it was just migraines...The second said it was epilepsy. I have hallucinations sometimes...I always get an odd feeling in the back of my head, like being on a ship or like I'm spinning. And sometimes I get an odd feeling in the pit of my stomach. My shoulders always feel relaxed, but the rest of my muscles get tight. And it always gets extremely hard to focus or think. Sometimes the walls will move in and out, or the floor will look like quicksand...But if I have hallucinations, usually it looks like people and objects are wiggling back and forth and it feels like I'm shaking... " Keep up on your sleep, avoid stress. Those really are the two main things for any epileptic, regardless of type, and will help very mush to reduce the frequency of episodes. Good luck - and don't let it get on top of you. It's something lots of us live with quite comfortabally and normally. "

" I was dx. with my brain tumor from a simple partial seizure. It felt like a mini stroke, the left side from head to toe went numb, my hearing was intense it lasted about 20 min then I was left with a migrane like feeling on the right side of my head it was sore until the next day. At first I was told they were major migranes, after the MRI the dx. changed. I am on Keppra. I have not had a spell like that since the med. but I do have short sharp pains in the left side of my face and tingly in the left fingertips, does anyone else have the pain in the face???

" Tip 1: I'd put the meds in 2 weekly pill containers.. one in the kitchen containing a week's worth of supper pills and one in my bedroom with a week's worth of AM pills so I could take each day when I woke.
That way there was no confusion over if I had or hadn't taken my meds.
I also kept a days dose of meds in my purse and would refill it when ever necessary.

Tip 2: Some meds are known to cause osteoporois (Tegreol is one) so I'd urge anyone taking AEDs to check that out and ,if need be, take Calcium and vitamin D every day.

Tip 3: If possible try to see an epileptologist ( a neurologist that focused their practice on and who sepecializes in epilepsy). "
