I have allergic rhinitis and ongoing sinus problems. I've tried several medications over the past 10 years and currently am on Singulair and Astelin. They help somewhat in that I don't have those constant sinus headaches anymore. However, I am constantly congested, I'm exhausted, and I never feel like doing anything. I get plently of sleep, plenty of fluids and I try to eat healthy. I need to get more exercise but I'm too tired. I'm unmotivated because I always feel like I'm sick even though I'm not really. I know all the things to do to try and decrease the irritation of my allergies. The only thing I won't do is get rid of my dog. He's my baby! It's hard to explain to my husband or others who don't suffer allergies. Is there anything I can do to increase my energy level or decrease my sense of feeling under the weather all the time.

Don't really know. It sounds like you are doing what you can except for the doggie. I understand how you feel about your pet. I have mine and there is no way that I could even imagine letting them go. Maybe wear a dust mask and gloves when around your loved one? I'm no doc but that is what I would do. They would have to get ust to me. I think that mine would adjust as long as I was petting them.

That's good advice. I do have my husband bathe and brush my dog. He doesn't shed much...my dog, not my husband. Come to think of it, my husband doesn't shed much either...lol. But I do try to wash my hands, etc. after petting my dog. And my husband. Hee, hee.

Hi dream412,
I don't really have any advice for you but I sure can relate! I have terrible allergies and we have a dog and a cat. I wouldn't think of getting rid of them. It is hard though esp. when other people don't understand how it feels. I am tired all the time and I seem to catch any and every illness that may be going around. Sometimes the last thing I feel like doing is excercising but if I tell myself that I will only go for a very short walk a lot of times it does make me feel better. I don't know if this helps or not but take care and you can contact me if you ever want to talk. Take Care~Melissa

I know exactly how you feel, I am just like you with the for ever congested. Only thing I can tell you to is try a saline nasal rinse. You can get one called a nelimed from cvs, it cleans out your nose with water and salt and you use a bottle to do it. Its really salt and warm water goin into one nostril and out the other. Sometimes it can help, esp dependin on how congested you are. Depends on the person also, it helps some but I guess it doesnt hurt to try.

The thing that gave me a boost with my allergies was allergy shots but it also may be the reason I have hypoglycemia too. I understand about the pet thing though. Im not allergic but I love my two cats more than anything and I worry about them all the time! Their my babies.

All I can add is that I don't take allergy med. unless I am horribly ill because the med. makes me feel lousy -- tired and depressed. It messes with the epinephrine and seretonin levels in the brain.
Also, avoid dairy products because they cause mucous to thicken. Good luck. Keep the dog.

I too have allergic rhinitis. It's the pits. I get so sick of my nose being stuffy. At night when I sleep, if on my right side, that nostril stuffs up, turn over, same thing on other side. Wake up with headaches. I've been better with Flonase constantly, but not sure how long/often I can take this. Humidity, smells, smoke, dust, cats, everything makes it worse.
