Sorry this is so long, but I need your advice please.
I have had several allergies over the years. But, for about 3 months now my right eye only has conjunctivitis. First, I started having a problem with my vision in my right eye. I started using eye drops all the time. Then, it felt like I had something that feels like a lotion or something got into it, but would not go away & caused even worse blurriness. Finally, after a couple of months, it got all bloodshot, swollen, & blurry even worse. OK, so the doctor called in some prescription eye drops about 1 month ago. I have used them every hour or two like it says. I take tons of benadryl. But, now it is even worse. It feels like a tiny speck of glass is stuck in my eye in the inner corner. I have had conjunctivitis many times when I was younger & it always went away. But, this is not getting better & is actually getting worse? The vision problem really drives me crazy. I already have poor vision, but this is like just my right eye is a complete blur. Once in awhile it clears up a bit, but I never know why. I went to an eye doctor. She said she could not find anything at all wrong with my eyes? She referred me to an opthalmologist, but my own promary care physician will not take the time to handle the referral for me after 7 weeks of my asking. No doctor seems to really care about my medical problems so that is why I am here. OK, so here is my question - Could this just all be allergy? Can my 3 little indoor doggy's be the cause? I wash & clean sheets, rugs, everything constantly. I have tried to find homes for my dogs, but no luck. Is there anything you can tell me that may help? Any specific eye drops? Any specific air spray that rids the air of allergens that would cause this? Any natural therapy ideas? Or, does this even sound like allergy? I know my doctor recently said my ears had allergy in them? Isn't that odd? Does anyone else have ear allergies? I greatly appreciate any ideas you may have!!! Thanks for taking time to read this. It doesn't sound like allergies to me. It sounds like something my wife went through a few years ago. After 3rd time going to the doctor, she was diagnosed with episcleritis. Your symptoms sound a lot like my wife's. I believe my wife went to immediate care center to get diagnosed. I hope this helps.

I did look up some remedies for episcleritis. Over the counter saline solution eye drops should help in mild cases. The article I read said to put eye drops in refrigerator to cool them off. In more severe cases you might need steroid eye drops. The steroid drops are by prescription only. The saline solution shouldn't cause any problems with your eyes even if you don't have episcleritis.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is EXACTALLY the information I needed for my son. He went through 3 courses of antibiotic eye drops and nothing. Today We were in Wal-mart pharmacy and I spoke with the clerk, not even the pharamasist at theis point who said environmental allergies. The Pharmasist then said the same thing. Suggested benedryl and OTC eye drops and if they did not clear, then steroid eye drops. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Additionally....
researching this I found that it cam be related to a previous viral illness or other underlying medical issues. My son has just recovered from a major sinus and tear duct infection. This "pink eye" presented itself 2 weeks from his release from the hospital.. The Dumb doctor said it was not related!!! huh!

I will typically have only one eye irritated at a time. I was using Patanol, but it stopped working well. So, I went to my Mdoc, and he gave me Optivar drops. It works OK, better than Patanol.
Do you NEED a referral to see an eye Doc? If not, call one up and get an eye exam, just like getting your vision checked. They will check your vision, and check your eyes out for any probs, and they have this stuff they drop in your eyes, and it will tell them if you are prone to allergies in your eyes. That's when I first started on Patanol. Felt like there was always something in my eye, and I'd itch it, and it'd get all red. But, scratching at it may cause damage to your eye. I'd get in to see an eye doc soon, if not already! I thought I had pink eye, b/c the PAtanol wasn't working, but it was just allergies, and it took awhile to get it under control with the Optivar...A script. Also, you should see an Ear Nose and Throat Doc to get allergy tested. Never heard of allergies in the ears, but my dog reacts with her environmental allergies by getting red, itchy ears. But, dogs react differently than humans to allergies. I'd get tested before getting rid of your dogs. It may be house dust mites your allergic too...not your dogs. Get tested first! Good Luck!
