Advice:
How do I treat an allergy to cats

My daughter is 6 years old and lives with my mother. I want to get her for sleepovers but my mom won't let her because she's allergic to our cats. Her reaction is not life threatening, she gets a stuffy nose sometimes and gets itchy. I'd get rid of the cats but my mom doesn't want me to because it will upset my daughter so I need to know if theres something I can try to lessen or get rid of the allergic reation?

" TO me, it sounds like she just doesn't wnat the kid to spend the night with you. But, that is just me.

Anyway, air purifiers with hepa filters and vacuuming atleast 2 hours before she comes over would help. If you can use a vacuum with hepa filters, even better. If you can't do that, there is a product by Arm And Hammer that you can sprinkle on the carpet before vacuuming to help break up the dander. Its called Arm&Hammer Allegen Reducer Carpet freshener. "

" I'd suggest a cat free room with an air purifier running in it. I'd also consult an allergist, if you haven't already, to see the degree of cat allergy. There are medications to help lessen the symptoms.

Good luck and let us know how it goes! "
