i have alergic rhinitus and take medication to damp down the real bad symptoms[runny nose/sneezing/wartering eyes]but for over 12 months now i have had no sense of smell and very little taste.i should like to try some alternative treatments as i am sick of taking drugs to control it has anyone any ideas?

well you can try a saline nasal rinse.. its a water and salt soultion u can buy from cvs or pharmacy like stores

Were you taking mineral supplements that included zinc? I had the same problem pop up about 2 years ago, and the doc suspected it might have been due to zinc. Most, but not all of my sense of smell has returned, but very slowly.
