I have been under the treatment for benign enlarged prostate by a board certified urologist for about 2 1/2 years. I am currently taking .5mg Avodart and 10mg Uroxatral daily. The latter of these meds replace .4mg Flomax twice daily which wasn't working. Flomax replaced Cadura which was no working and lowering my already depressed BP to dangerous levels.

The meds have at lease brought my PSI within acceptable range.

I am 53, my MD feels I am too young to have surgery. I stop drinking fluids at 4pm, which bascally means I no longer eat dinner since I cannot drink anything to wash it down with or else I'll be up several times a night. Even with cutting fluids off at 4, I am still up three times a night minimum.

Does anyone here hve similar experience? Does anyone have good experience with any other meds when the ones I have mentioned failed?

I am very frustrated

J

" I had similar experiences and can report that you are wasting your time with the meds. Unfortunately the solution is surgery. In good hands the after effects are minimal but you will be able to live a normal life. I waited thinking the meds would solve the problem and suffered needlessly. Bite the bullet and get it done. "

" I am 78 and have had two turp operations plus various medications but still ended up with fairly regular bleeding, difficulty urinating especially at night and four +? emergency trips to hospital with my uretha blocked
I have found the solution is in drinking alkalyne water. I have been on water of ph 9-10 for one year and now have no prostate problems accept that I still have to get up during the night 2-4 times. But I urinate easily, have no bleeding and my prostate feels very comfortable.
Can you get to my profile for more info? "
