Enlarged Prostate Support Group

My boyfriend has been taking Flomax for several years. The pharmacy just informed us yesterday that his Flomax is not on the Formulary and that Hytrin is. He was very reluctant to switch w/o Dr. advice. Has anyone had any positive experiences with this med???

I have been on hytrin for 1 year. It works ok and keeps it under control. My doc said I should use Hytrin and Flomax together because they compliment each other. I have not tried that long enough to tell.

I was on Flomax which didn't do much but had undesirable sexual side effects. Switched to Hytrin and I thought it worked much better without the side effects.

I have used hytrin for many years. It not only helps enlarged prostate symptoms, but helps with blood pressure if you're a little high. It has been very useful for me. If you get up quickly in the middle of the night you may be a bit light headed.

Have been on the above mentioned meds, now I use Proscar with Doxazosin, but believe surgery is in the future

Hi Doug. I have been on Hytrin for about 10 years. The first reaction was as expected, a little loopy when I took the meds at night time as prescribed.
Now I have no sensations. Hytrin allowed me to get my night time bathroom trips down from 6 - 8 per night to only 1 or 2. My PSA has lowered to close to normal. When I do miss a dose I can tell as it takes longer to void my bladder. For me Hytrin works.
