I've never had a chocolate cyst, but I have read about them while researching endo. Apparently they are pretty common, and from what I understand a chocolate cyst is a cyst that is filled with old blood and other material that causes endometriosis(which is why it has a chocolate color). Hope this is helpful. You also might try googling chocolate cyst to get more info. Good luck!

As far as I know I don't have any cyts, but who knows now days. I have had for the longest time a brown bloody discharge before and after, to come to find out thats what they call chocolate. Unfortently its the blood that pools together and attatches itself to your insides.

My mom had a chocolate cyst rupture one day before she was diagnosed with endo. She was driving when it ruptured on her and she pulled over and crawled into the back seat until my dad came and got her. Through the research I have done on endo chocolate cyst seem to be pretty common. Hope this brings some insight... Sarah :)

I had one Dr tell me that I had cysts on my overies and then they ruptured and I thought I was going to die, it hurt so bad. The current gyn said I have foliclules and not cyst. Who knows what they are but I know how it feels and don't want to feel it again.

Hi, I have five Ovarian chocolate cysts, the largest being on my left ovary (where the endo is) and it measures 6.5cms and my specialist said it is very hard. Please do not worry, they are mega common with endo. I am currently awaiting to go into Hospital for surgery to have them all removed.
Speak to your Gyn as sometimes they can shrink them with the Pill if they are not too big and functional cysts. Hope this helps! Sar x

I had one which prompted my surgery in 2002. They have to be removed because I've heard having them rupture is extrememly painful. I don't think I've had another one... but I'm not sure. Mine was the size of a golf ball.

they are called "chocolate" because they are filled with old blood and tissue and have a liquid, chocolate sauce like appearance when viewed.

Hi there, Last June I had a 10 cm chocolate cysts on left ovary removed by laproscopic surgery . They also removed my ovary & tube due to how large it was. During this they also diagnosed me with endo which I was unaware that I had.
