Empty Nests Support Group

this year my daughter, my son , and my grandson all moved to the opposite ends of the earth, the up coming holidays are making very sad, and i can't shake the feeling it will be very lonely...what to do???
write me if you need too, cuz no one ever reads this section under empty nests

I am struggeling with facing the holidays this year. It is just me and my husband. What little family we have is far away, our one son is having marital problems. His wife is indifferent to us. We can't even see our grandaughter...they are always "busy" when we want to come over. We are just depressed about the holidays. Wish they were over.I can sympathize with you. I am very sad, remembering happier times. I came from a large loving family that celebrated all holidays...i miss that so much.

I too am very sad about the approaching holiday season. My daughter will be going to visit her father and his family leaving me alone at home with no family in town. It is a very lonely time of year for me.

Oh yes indeed, me too! Mine are living elsewhere too and well the holidays really hit me hard. They always have somewhere else to go, something else to do so I don't go there. I'm dreading the holidays because every holiday I cry so much and hide in my room in my bed under the covers, I even do that when it's not the holidays cause I miss them so much!

I too am dreading the holidays. My daughter will be visiting her father and his family and her boyfriend's family leaving me alone at home. I wish the holidays were over already.

I DON'T EVEN ANT A TREE THIS YEAR...THERE WILL NOTHING TO PUT UNDER IT, I WILL SHIPPING OUT MY PACKAGES, AND I AM SO SAD AND ANGUISHED OVER HAVING MY FAMILY IN EVERY CORNER OF THE WORLD BUT MY OWN...A YEAR AGO WE HAD A FULL HOUSE...NOW EVERYONE HAS MOVED OR BEEN RIPPED OUT OF MY LIFE. I AM DREADING THE HOLIDAYS AS WELL.JUST THOUGHT I WOULD ADD AN0THER TWO CENTS TO THIS THREAD SINCE HARDLY ANYONE EVER GOES TO THIS DISCUSSION BOARD....

I remember my wonderful big family and grandparents and miss that so much. I dread the holidays now. I am always available to work on the holidays now, which is sad.

NancyJane mirrored me. My grandparents and parents had wonderful holidays. During a divorce in 1985 and 1986 I overeloaded Christmas for my daughter. Now, all are gone and the house is quiet. I miss those old holidays so much now. And my grandfather LIVED for Christmas, built the most wonderful things. Backyard train set with tracks and cars for example. Genuine Santa Clause on earth.

Now we put up a tree, and that's it. Part of me does not even want the tree save it is so beautiful.
