Just out of curiosity, since we already know the answer - how many of us have gone through years of chiro only to be told we needed more exercise and diet or supplements because an adjustment would last...ohhhh, about 5 minutes before everything snap, crackled, and popped its way right back where it was before?
And - am I the only one who suspects chiropractors really ought to know a heck of a lot more about this and give a lot less bad advice? Not to mention, osteopaths? I don't want to get off on a rant here, but after decades of (now clearly) ignorant advice, useless treatment, years of pain and sprains without any notable trauma, and an osteopath at the insurance company costing me everything I ever worked for in my life, I just can't help but think that most of them are clearly uneducated on this condition. I must've been told about a thousand times that this was all due to my diet and that this was why tendons and ligaments were so weak. Just wondered if anyone else has been through that money pit and what you think about it now? Posted on 12/14/07, 05:12 am |

well personally i dont believe they help, hence i dont go to one, i did once and i refused to go again because as you said "your diet is wrong" well if my diet was wrong would i not be over weight? or have other health problems related to the diet?? but i do have other health problems which could be related to my diet but its not because i'm healthy as healthy can be and even my normal doctors said i was healthy except for the problems eds causes. so i personally believe they do jack all and its a waste of money of course this is just me and i know everyone else has a different opinion and different things work for different people. sorry if this was more of a rant about nothing, lol.

Chiropractic care has it's place but it's definately no miracle treatment! I actually started to go to one recently and he's really good. Of course my back auto-adjusts regularly but my chronic pain seems to be helped by it. He's really down to earth and doesn't pretend that everything in his practice works for everyone. What I really like though is the stuff after the actual adjustment. They stick some sticky pads on my back attach them to wires and to a machine and then I get an electric version of a vibrating massage ;-)

I should modify what I said earlier. I HAVE gotten some benefits from chiropractic from time to time. I'm just mad that they were misdiagnosing the real problem and blaming me for it for so long. At the moment, I'd give my left shoulder and two or three other random assorted joints for a really good deep tissue massage!

i find it weird it was my chiro practor who told me i had hyper mobile joints in the first place and he even spent alot of time with me if i came back in 5 min after i left the office. he got so used to me he realized he needed to do the adjustment in the opposite order so that it would 'stick' for longer. cus him doing it in the regular order would just put what ever he had just worked on back out of place. i also amused him when i showed him that i was able to adjust my back just from squeezing my but cheeks together lol...
