i'm hesitant to seek medical advice because i've been put on antibiotics more times that i'd like lately. my skin has been on the fritz since november of last year. it started as this patch on my left shin that developed into MRSA and then just went haywire and this rash exploded on BOTH shins. since then both shins have been almost constantly covered in angry red bumps with specific roundish patches where the skin becomes scaly and heals from the inside out where it almost looks like ringworm- from the research i've done i've concluded that i have nummular eczema. i have a specific patch on my right elbow too, and it always comes back. the spots always show up in the same places; little rings and then the surrounding skin is just really dry and irritable/itchy or completely blown up with red bumps that sometimes blister and ooze (usually after shaving- read, folliculitis to the max). i can't shave because it gets horribly horribly worse. my skin is getting more and more rough and i'm living up to my nickname "lizard"
any suggestions? i've done hydrocortisone cream, melagel, extra virgin olive oil, aveeno colloidal oatmeal baths and lotions and shaving creams, milk thistle and black currant seed oil supplements. does coconut oil really work? i want to steer clear of steroids and other such artificial or "medical" suggestions. i never noticed a change in my skin when i was forcing myself to eat probiotic yogurt for a month. i became like a digestive clock, however. should i look into other forms of probiotics? should i get a full-body skin graft? should i move to jamaica? the initial outbreak was from excessive amounts of stress. Antibiotics work in part by killing ALL bacteria even the GOOD kind you REQUIRE to absorb your food. Have you tried a refrig probiotic(can find them on the internet)???

If you do use the Probiotics I would make sure your taking a multivitamin and fishoil. Fishoil has many nutrients that your skin requires for good health...only with the probiotics you have a beeter chance of absorbing these nutrients.
-Best Wishes to you ( : Let me know how it is going

I think moving to Jamaica sounds good. Sun helps, course you don't wanna overdo it. I have the superduper cortisone cream but I don't use them unless I really have to. They're bad for your skin in the long run.
I use benadryl cream for itching. Lately I've been using Emu oil - the blue stuff - which also contains vitamin e and aloe. It seems to help. But frankly, nothing has really cleared it completely. I can keep it to a minimum if I do the above but I still have some spots on my lower legs. Jo

YES I agree diet does play a part..look at some of my other posts. Milk makes your body more acidic which good gut bacteria(Probiotics) HATE.. they like a higher pH which is more base/alkaline.
More veggies and fruits should help as they make your body more base(raise pH) and bacteria LOVE that kind of fiber.
