Hello!

I was quite excited to find this groups as I love to get new ideas with how to help my girls. I have two 15 month old daughters with just awful eczema. They have had it since birth and it is continually getting worse. We have tried almost every medicine we can and have now begun trying more natural products, because my daughters could be on steroid creams everyday and it does nothing. About 2 months ago, they were diagnosed with a staph infection and the girls as well as my husband and I were treated with antibiotics which helped temporarily. They were then given a stronger steroid cream, which was too strong and burned their skin. We were told by the dermatologist to not use it anymore. I give them atarax 2-3 times per day because they are miserable without it. Please help with any suggestions you may have. We have spent alot of money on many treatments and none have worked so far, but would love more input. The money is not an issue, I will pay anything to help my children feel better. We have just started using tea tree oil and coconut oil-we have only used it for a couple days so I haven't seen a huge difference yet!! Thanks for all your suggestions-I appreciate your input!

" Wow, I am so sorry to hear this. I don't know how your family's diet is, but it is crucial that you cut out sugar, refined foods like flour and boxed food. Eat lots of fresh veggies and fruit and drink lots of water. You need to get your family on a good probiotic which you can find at a health food store in the refrigerated section. It is a MUST that you give the girls fish oil or flax oil! Stop using chemical products too! I'm going to put a link for you to click below. Its a company that sells eczema products and baby products. They will give out samples too. Good luck with everything.

" My son has eczema but is too young to have a conversation with. I gave him PRObiotics (Life Start Natren over internet is good for kids under the age of 4yrs) which is GOOD bacteria in your gut that you NEED to absorb nutrients into your bloodstream. If you don't have enough bacteria then you don't absorb as much nutrients. Your skin being your largest organ requires a good deal of these nutrients of which if you are lacking too much skin health goes downhill. Probiotics reduced 80% of his eczema in a week & kept it away for over a month. THen I noticed it got bad within 3 days... thought about it and realized I had introduced him to OJ for 3 days in a row which lowers body pH making it more acidic. So in an effort to increase pH to be more base/alkaline, helping bacteria grow and increasing nutrients being absorbed I put 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda in 2 1/2 cups warm milk. By morning his redness went from redness of 9 to 3 on 10 point scale... overnight! I have taken him off OJ, pineapple and am .. as I have been trying to do.. give him more green veggies which make pH more base.
How does this affect you? I got to thinking that stress causes more acid in the body. Found below article too. If you are stressed out or know you will be (ie upcomming exam, etc) try taking alkaline water with Probiotics. Eat more veggies, whole wheat and less sugar, OJ, cranberry juice all with higher pH.

PLEASE let me know if this works for you.

PS Body pH makes sense, if you have a urinary track infection (UTI) you take cranberry juice to make body more acidic killing BAD bacteria and the infection.
ANTIbiotics kill bacteria and so too your GOOD bacteria so this will probably cause a flare up too.

" Not sure where you live, we have very hard water in San Diego and it was making her eczema worse. I got a water filter to take out chlorine and it hads helped tons. Also, she tested positive for food allergies and when we both went off allergens who itching dissapeared. THis weekend was doing a food test on me (still nursing)sure enough she started scratching again.
Also, try the California Baby Calendula lotion, it really keeps her skin nice and moist. Keeo us posted. "

" Hi, I'm also a mum, my daughter, now 10 years old, has had ezcema all her life. For a good time of it until she was about 6 years old she was constantly in bandages with every cream under the sun!!! 6 weeks ago I read an article about probiotics and thought we might as well give it ago and I can't believe her skin now. I note the comment about OJ and I have to say there has been redness re-appear after drinking that so thats going to stop next as we are both so pleased it's the best it has ever been. I got told to try probiotics for 3 months before I would be able to see a difference, but after only 6 weeks I can see the difference I can't wait for 3 months. Good luck "

" I'm sorry for your LO's...I know how it is. I too have a little one that used to be covered in eczema. What's working for us is her wearing a hazelwood necklace. I know...it sounds odd. But the hazelwood has the natural property of absorbing excess acid in the body when it's against yor skin (I guess acid is a major cause of eczema) Within about 2 weeks of wearing the necklace(they're made to be safe for babies by the way) her eczema was pretty much all gone and it has stayed away since then (about 3 months). It does come back when I take off her necklace though so that's how I know it didn't just go away on its own.
They're inexpensive and quite cute too!
Anyway, you can find them at http://www.hazelaid.com
Hope this helps you.
PS You know whats funny, I know another mom who has 2 daughters named Kate & Lauren! "
