Frustration with seborrheic dermatitis

I've had seb derm for about 3 years now. I have read where it might be an allergic reaction to some kind of food. I went to an allergist, gotten both scratch and blood tests, and found that I have no food allergies. The allergist gave me some Elidel samples and sent me on my way.
My dermatologist told me to use ZNP bar (zinc pyrithione) and also gave me a prescription for an anti-fungal cream, as he feels that seb derm is caused by some kind of fungus.
My frustration is what to believe. Why don't doctors know more about this condition ?
Also, I read on this and other web sites about some success stories. But what works for one may not work for another. Frustration again.
I'm sick and tired of this condition, but realize that it's not going to go away.
Sorry, just venting.

" I have been diagnosed with eczema in 2003 and basically forgot about it. I was looking through my dermatology folder and found the diagnosis. I am in the middle of a full-body eczema outbreak. I was very very itchy the first week, now I've had it for almost 3 weeks and it's not as bad any more. I feel I have to accept that I have this condition and will get flare-ups on and off.

Feel free to read my journal, too.

" Yeah, me too. I know I will get outbreaks, and will have to deal with them. Mose of the time, I can deal with them successfully. Sometimes, like this last one, I freak out.

It seems to have calmed down some. I started taking Ginger Root this week. And zinc also. I wonder if these supplements had anything to do with this. "

" That's what happened to me this time, I freaked out. I'm slowly getting better, but it's been over 3 weeks now. I read on this site that Evening Primrose Oil is helpful. I got some Friday and started taking it. So far I don't see any dramatic improvement. I'll give it a week to reassess.

Are you taking ginger as capsules or other supplement form? I use fresh ginger in food, but not every day. I use a face cream with zink in it and did not have burning or anything on the eczema spots when I put it on. Somehow I think it's good for the skin.

Have a good Sunday ! :-) "
