Are there any permanent fixes for eczema? Probably not but I figured I'd ask.. What is everyone using for their eczema? I use this lotion called 'fluticasone propionate'... Its a prescription and it works SO good! Its ultra moisturizing too so it doesn't dry me out like most of the creams I've tried before though... But what do you guys do to control or get rid of your eczema?

I've been using Clobetasol cream for the last 2 years. Seems to work. It will really work fast if you get to outbreak early.

I haven't found anything that works. I was even given oral prednisone for two weeks. Elecon 1% 2.5% , elidel, mimex and every moisturizer the drug store has.
My rash has never itched it just burns. Nine straight months of torture. The only thing that worked temporarily was fungal spray. But the dermatologist says it's not fungal.

I posted this last month, but thought I would post again for those who are looking for an Eczema remedy.
Want to share my experience on how I almost completely rid myself of Eczema ... and it didn't cost anything. Interested to see if it helps anyone else. Before I explain this "cure", I want to point out that only try this on yourself and not on other people, especially children. You'll probably see why, but I'll explain later anyway. After being diagnosed with Eczema 4 years ago at age 45, I made the observation that the Eczema was mostly on my lower arms and legs, which are the least warmest parts of a body. To me it was logical that Eczema did not like its environment to be really hot or else it would also be on my upper arms and legs and torso. So I tried an experiment. While taking a shower, I made the water as scalding hot as I could stand it, and put my lower extremities (got my body out of the way) one at a time into the scalding water. Keeping each arm or leg in the hot water for 1 or 2 minutes each or for as long as I could stand it. My skin got really red, but I didn't keep it under long enough to get burned. I did this every day for maybe 3 or 4 weeks. Now my legs and arms are free of the redness and itching for more than 3 years. To be clear, use scalding water, as scalding hot as you can stand it (meaning, the hot water is so hot it hurts so bad you'll want to take your arm out of the water stream). If you use “regular” hot water (the temperature you use to take a hot shower), it just irritates but does not eradicate. Try an experiment: Do this on one arm or leg for two weeks and see if it makes a difference. But don't get your torso in the scalding water; for me the scalding water is too hot for the torso. If you have a large enough sink, use that water and put your forearm under that scaling hot water. So the reason you don't do the scalding water to any else it that you can't regulate how hot the water feels on their skin, especially with children. You only make this decision for yourself. Do not do this on anyone but yourself. Remember to be careful. Don’t injure yourself. You do this at your own risk. I am not responsible, nor is this website, if you make the water so extremely hot and injure your skin. Be smart about doing this. I think there are different types of Eczema, so this may not work for all types (offhand I can't remember which type I was diagnosed with). Even though I am Eczema free, I am still careful, not to put on any perfumed lotion or soaps; just unscented products. Let me know if "cure" helps others.

I must have a different type of eczema. I have spots on my upper arms, upper legs, and torso, as well as my lower arms and legs. As big as I am, that's be a lot of hot water.

Olux (clobetasol) "cured" me. I think I have the same kinds as foxysdad. Puffy splotches all over the body that bleed. You can read about my experience with it on my profile.
I had tried everything and the first time the doctor gave me a free trial of Olux I thought it was some miracle drug. I found it much later that it's also a steroid like others I had tried - just a very very very strong one. I used to scald myself too and it certainly didn't cure me, but it felt great. All the nerves retract which would kill the pain for about a half hour or so. It was horrible for my skin I'm sure, but I was desperate. I don't know about eczema not liking warm parts of the body - I had it all over and I've known people that have it specifically in folds of skin and warm areas.

My son USED to have ezcema on his tummy, arms, legs. He only has mildly red area under chin right now. USE PRObiotics!!! Eczema is your body's problem of being unable to retain moisture in your skin. Thus, you have dry skin patches. You can use lotions which treat the symptom. If you want to treat the root causes, one which is very likely to be your skin not getting enough vitamins. Then you may want to take something like:
GNC: Digestive Health Powder(AWESOME PRODUCT). It contains prebiotics, PRObiotics and digestive enzymes that help breakdown and absorb the nutrients from your food better. All your organs improve especially the largest one that takes more vitamins... YOUR SKIN. Take a product like this for about a week. You may be VERY surprised at the improvement. Note you should be taking a multivitamin and fish oil along with a good diet that includes fruits, veggies, lean meat, long grains and water. Oh yeah, take warm.. not hot showers since the heat pulls more moisture out of the skin. Probiotics helped clear up about 80% of my kid's eczema in less than a week. I had to do the research to find this information since all the doctors only suggested lotion that did NOT clear up the problem. See your doctor to find out if probiotics can help you. Please let me know if this worked for you. My source: Skin health, eczema, and preventative strategies: Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients. May, 2003 by Chris D. Meletis, Jason Barker http://www.eczemamembers.com/clubportal/... Bacteria and Eczema: Eczema is an Immune System Disorder (atopy), and 75% of your Immune System is found in your Gastrointestinal Tract where 3 to 4 pounds of bacteria reside.

You know my son has been MUCH better with his eczema for over a month since I put him on Probiotics. Then in the last 3 days it got much worse. Long story short I came to the conclusion body pH must be too acidic for the GOOD bacteria otherwise I wouldn't have to KEEP giving him Probiotics everyday.( The bacteria should have grown/replicated on their own) So his pH must be too low/acidic. Then it dawned on me that recently I had been giving him OJ..very acidic for the last few days. I gave him 1/8 teaspoon baking soda in 1 1/2 Cups milk last night to raise pH so it was higher more base/alkaline. This morning his eczema had went from down from 9 to 3 (1-10 scale) in redness OVERNIGHT! I think this confirms my theory. He is young so still does not eat alot of green veggies which also makes your pH more alkaline but I am continuing to try to get more of these foods in his diet. If pH is righ then bacteria should grow on their own, absorbing more nutrients healing your skin from the inside out. Taking Probiotics to help get your GI track "seeded" while raising pH should help your skin get more nutrients and become healthier.
Let me know if this info helped you. I hope it does. Either way I wish you well. PS Body pH makes since .. if you have urinary track infection (UTI) you drink cranberry juice which is highly acidic to kill bacteria and get rid of the infection.
