" In the doctors prescriptions you said you never take anti biotics.

This is a hug to stix24 from you;

Hug IL13 (10/27/07)

I was there last week, it's the worst. Now clear and back to 'normal' (had to take antibiotics though). Plenty of salt baths. Keep fighting it, it will heal. "

" wow you're keen! actually bothering to research me, I'm honored.

Yes, I did take antibiotics on that occasion (I had to, I was in trouble), that was the first time in 30 years. So I feel it is painting an accurate portrait for me say characterize myself as 'never' taking antibiotics. "

" Really interested to read discussion about probiotics and eczema. I started with mine (mild on face) 18yrs ago just before getting married, used steroid cream until I read that it 'thins the skin', so decided to put up with it, as so mild. About 9 yrs ago, I was on antibiotics for ages following an operation, and began taking a probiotic to deal with the subsequent thrush. It was powder in capsules that you keep refrigerated (like somebody mentioned in an earlier post) amazingly, within a couple of days my skin had totally cleared up. I have had to take it on numerous occasions (stress, and always need to take some on holiday with me) and it has always done the trick (the health food shop didn't have the brand one time, I bought another but this didn't do anything for me). I must say that mine is only mild, and am not saying this will work for everybody, but I did recommend this to the mum of a young woman who would not leave the house and she reported back that her skin had improved dramatically. " My son USED to have ezcema on his tummy, arms, legs. He only has mildly red area under chin right now. USE PRObiotics!!! Eczema is your body's problem of being unable to retain moisture in your skin. Thus, you have dry skin patches. You can use lotions which treat the symptom. If you want to treat the root causes, one which is very likely to be your skin not getting enough vitamins. Then you may want to take something like:
1/4 scoop (daily) GNC: Digestive Health Powder(AWESOME PRODUCT). It contains prebiotics, PRObiotics and digestive enzymes that help breakdown and absorb the nutrients from your food better. All your organs improve especially the largest one that takes more vitamins... YOUR SKIN. Take a product like this for about a week. You may be VERY surprised at the improvement.
Note you should be taking a multivitamin and fish oil along with a good diet that includes fruits, veggies, lean meat, long grains and water.
Oh yeah, take warm.. not hot showers since the heat pulls more moisture out of the skin.

Probiotics helped clear up about 80% of my kid's eczema in less than a week. I had to do the research to find this information since all the doctors only suggested lotion that did NOT clear up the problem. See your doctor to find out if probiotics can help you.

Please let me know if this worked for you.

Bacteria and Eczema: Eczema is an Immune System Disorder (atopy), and 75% of your Immune System is found in your Gastrointestinal Tract where 3 to 4 pounds of bacteria reside. "

" You know my son has been MUCH better with his eczema for over a month since I put him on Probiotics. Then in the last 3 days it got much worse. Long story short I came to the conclusion body pH must be too acidic for the GOOD bacteria otherwise I wouldn't have to KEEP giving him Probiotics everyday.( The bacteria should have grown/replicated on their own) So his pH must be too low/acidic. Then it dawned on me that recently I had been giving him OJ..very acidic for the last few days. I gave him 1/8 teaspoon baking soda in 1 1/2 Cups milk last night to raise pH so it was higher more base/alkaline. This morning his eczema had went from down from 9 to 3 (1-10 scale) in redness OVERNIGHT! I think this confirms my theory. He is young so still does not eat alot of green veggies which also makes your pH more alkaline but I am continuing to try to get more of these foods in his diet. If pH is right then bacteria should grow on their own, absorbing more nutrients healing your skin from the inside out. Taking Probiotics to help get your GI track "seeded" while raising pH should help your skin get more nutrients and become healthier.

Let me know if this info helped you.
I hope it does.
Either way I wish you well.

PS Body pH makes since .. if you have urinary track infection (UTI) you drink cranberry juice which is highly acidic to kill bacteria and get rid of the infection. "

" Thanks for all your posts about Probiotics. I had been adviced by my accupunturist and took it for 1 month in high doses. It did not clear up my eczema right away but after that month my skin just got better bit by bit. I did not take any probiotica after that anymore. But I did start to eat goat milk youghurt, since I try to stay away from cows milk. I tried to be ok with only getting my probiotics that way. Right now my skin is wors then in a long time. I guess it is contributed to a big change in my life, which probably ads stress in my subconsciousness. But reading about the pobiotics made me think that I should take it again, thanks. Salt baths in 'letting go salt' by little moon essentials and application of my own version of skin oil while I am still moist from the bath helps me a lot. It calms my skin down. Other then that I need to relax and be on an alkaline diet. "

" I agree with a more alkaline diet ie more fruit and green veggies. Green veggies NOT ONLY make your body more alkaline but your gut bacteria LOVE it. If they are thriving you have better absorption. See Dr. O post on probiotics and her #1-#4 as to the science behind WHY it DOES work.
Stress and working out do make your system more acidic (lower pH) which GOOD gut bacteria don't like->less absorption. I am going to ask the doctor to do a arterial blood gas test on my son to see if he runs more acidic in general (pH determined by kidney and lung function). until then I keep him on probiotics and make him a frozen fruit slushie (with spinich) everyother day for both my kids that LOVE it!! He is doing wonderful with this regiement.

Good Luck to you! "
