I have taken my daugher all over the state to many different physicians. I can manage the atopic eczema on her body well enough. However, I am very worried about her eyes. She is Asian, and we, her parents, are not. The skin surrounding her eyes will get so red and sore with scaling. The first physician put her on a medication that worked great until I took her off it, and it came right back. I cannot remember the name of it, but when I went to another doctor, she was very upset saying it causes blindness in children with prolonged use (and by this time, it was prolonged). She said to go to a dermatologist. The dermatologist prescribed a steroid (again, name escapes me), which all the literature that came with it said not to use around eyes. It helped, but the problem never went away. I went for a simple check-up with her pediatrician, and he was very upset about the steroid around her eyes and put her on Elidil. We have been using Elidil for a couple months now around her eyes, and it isn't really helping, but I read that causes cancer and shouldn't be used for eyes. I'm at a loss what to do for her. I am wondering if she is allergic to the shampoo (Dove). The physicians all tell me that is okay, but her eyes do seem to get worse following washing and conditioning of her hair. I have looked unsuccessfully for a good moisturizing shampoo/conditioner that is for sensitive skin. Does anyone have any suggestions for me. My daughter has been having this problem now for a year with her beautiful eyes, and it is killing me to put her through this. She is from Southern China, and her dermatologist told me that this kind of eczema is very common in that region.
If anyone can help me, I would be so appreciative. Thank you! San Posted on 09/27/07, 09:09 pm |

Hi San,
Have you ever heard of Arbonne? It is a pure, safe and beneficial product which is dermatologist tested and peditrician approved. They have an amazing line of products you can use for eczema. I have been using the products for my burn scars for years and I know many people who have benefitted from their line for eczema (including my god-daughter who is 3). If you log onto www.arbonne.com and sign up as a client you will need a consultant pin. mine is 17260670. Read about the line and product. If you decide its something you want to try, buy the not-so basic line, conditioning body oil, and in the baby care line, the body wash (very hydrating) and the body lotion. I hope I was helpful. If the products do not help your daughter you have 45 days to return them for full money back. please feel free to contact me back. Sincerely, Kim

Would you be willing to try something all natural that would help? Call me and I will send you an all natural wash and lotion I created that will help. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.

Hi, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I too was having the same problem around my eyes, dry, red, itching, peeling and wrinkles.I Was diagnosed with Eczema I used Elidel and it went away but came back when I stopped using it. I had allergy tests done and I was very allergic to my shampoo. As it turns out the most common allergic ingredient in shampoo is the sudsing agent called Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate. I went to the health food store and bought a shampoo without it made by Jason. They make different kinds. I got the Natural Sea Kelp. Also I think what has help heal and protect my eyes more than anything is Emu Oil. You put a few drops around the eyes and I saw a difference overnight. You can order it online, make sure it is certified and pure I ordered mine from Laid in Montana and you might try the health food stores but make sure you buy the topical oil not the oral ones. I am so happy my eyes have healed completely and even the wrinkles have gone away. Please give it a try, I was sceptical but desperate and I'm glad I tried it. Hope this helps for your little girl.

We've had great results with more natural products and absolutely love a lotion we're using right now (that beats Eucerin in clinical tests!). Absolutely fantastic!! We've gladly been able to away from harsh chemicals and products found conventionally, substituting safer, more natural versions from this company, and have nothing but better health to show for it...including no eczema! And...affordable (praise the Lord)!!!
Go to: http://sharinghope.tellmethestory.com username "mela" password "now" Once there, look up eczema. Wonderful!

another website to look up is itchy.net.au. This is a site where you can buy Calendulis products. Have seen it on tv and looks good. Yet to try it yet. I'm using Paw Paw ointment. I have used on my daughters face.

Pop2v, your mentioning that Melaleuca products are all natural is not true, they simple attempt not to use harsh chemicals, but their lotions and washes are not all natural and this is wrong advice. I use to sell Melaleuca brand products and they are a good quality but still contain many chemicals that can still be harmful. Some of their products may be all natural but not the majority of them.

Dave...
This thread is not about me. So I won't enter into your discussion here. If you prefer, I did give you a personal message. Let's discuss it there, not in this forum. All that I've stated is 100% true. Your post is, unfortunately, and hopefully inadvertently, damaging to me personally. Let's get back to helping San. ;o)

I would like to post a public apology to pop2v for misunderstanding his recent post about more natural products. I misread all natural and not more natural. This was never intended to insinuate any dishonesty on his part in any way, shape, or form and I apologize for any interpretation of it being so. I simply misunderstood what he had said. Melaleuca products are good quality products and you may be very happy if you try them, I will leave that to everyones personal discretion.

Stop using the Dove shampoo and awitch to something NATURAL! The only reson doctors recommend Dove is because it is the industry standard and they are told to. Go to the health food store and buy an unscented shampoo. Also, get your little girl some swimming goggles for when you bathe her and avoid the shampoo from going into her eyes all together!! A dechlorinating shower head is also useful, chlorine can be very irritating. search online for shower dechlorinators.

Lovely to see all the advice, which I am sure will work in the short term. What is needed is to treat the cause that almost certainly is an allergy to food or drink.
There is free help and advice at http://www.freedomfromexcema.com Find the culpret and deal with it, then no more eczema. If I can help further please contact me through here. Kind regards, Don moody.
