Advice:
Which Shampoo do you use for itchy scalp?

I have had an eczema attack for the last 3 weeks and it's improving to where it's almost gone. At times I had a very itchy scalp, especially right around the hairline. I had eczema areas behind my ears and on my neck. Normal shampoo was stinging and I started using Head & Shoulders shampoo. This seemed to work OK, but does anybody have better ideas?
Thanks :-)

" Hi Clair,

I have had the itchy scalp problem as well, not right now though. But I have been using and still use a shampoo by Aubrey organics called J.A.Y. desert herb revitalizing shampoo and the GPB balancing conditioner. This organic product has helped me a lot since I seem to react badly towards any chemical poduct. But these products do not strip my scalp off all its oils like regular shampoos. Also important for me is not to wash my hair every day, in fact I wash my hair once or twice a week. That also makes my hair healthier as well because I do not strip it off its oils as well. And my hair does not look greasy or dirty, trust me. :-) It is important when choosing a natural shampoo that you stay away from chamomile which has been known to aggravate eczema.
Try it, good luck. "

" Thanks for the ideas. The chamomile info is interesting, I always thought it's good for all kinds of ailments, internally and externally, but maybe not. Yes, not washing your hair that often definitely helps. I wash mine every other day usually.
Take care ! :-) "

" I use alphosyl 2 in 1 or oilatum shampoo. Also if I'm in a pickle I use Bettamouse mousse, this is steroid based though and just for control measures. "

" I just recently started using Aveeno Eczema Care Body Wash as my shampoo too and loved it. Other times I use pyrithione zinc wash (which is found in dandruff shampoos) or tar based shampoos, though I think might most of the time be too harsh. Depends how bad and it my eczema is in an acting up stage. "
