Helping my 4 month old sleep at night.

My 4 month old was recently diagnosed with excema. I've been swaddling him since birth and was thinking about weaning him off this. The more I learn about excema though, the more I think I should continue to swaddle him so he doesn't scratch himself. He isn't sleeping very well and I was planning on doing some sleep learning with him but now wonder if this is realistic when the poor guy is so itchy. While it sounds selfish I also need my sleep so I can be a good mama to him... what to do?
