I have been on DS for several months and I have found it to be very educational and at times very helpful. The word suicide, kill my self and similar expressions seem to pop up many many times.

This get instant attention which is good it shows that people really care about other people who are in crisis. At lot of the people on here are mainly looking for attention. Their profiles on the whole are most disturbing and I feel a little exagerated. I know that there are many people on here who really need help to get through the difficult times but I also feel that there are a lot who are simply looking for attention.

This may seem a little harsh but I feel it needed to be said. I get mad when kind hearted people are been taken advantage of.

Have a great 4th of July everyone

" I'm sure some people are here for attention. But needing attention is not necessarily a bad thing. I used to do and say things for attention, and I did it because I was so lonely that I'd do or say just about anything to get attention, good or bad. Even negative attention is better, sometimes, than being so completely alone. I can remember being so lonely that I had a constant physical ache in the middle of my chest. It was during that time that I caused some minor trouble to get attention. Eating disorders isolate people, which can cause loneliness. Sometimes, the person trying to get attention just needs a friend. "

" I understand the need for attention ed and depresion can make you very miserable. I did not mean to hurt anyone's feelings. You are very brave to admit that you were looking for attention and it shows that you are growing and working towards recovery. "

" I TOTALLLLLLY agree with you. When i did try to kill myself, i don't think a single person on here knew i was sad. So it is true that its a call for attention. I catch myself saying..oh i could kill myself but then I realize its wrong. A lot of people do want attention saying some stuff. "

" True. I try to love and support others without judging or criticizing or "kicking a girl when she's down" but the dramatics of someone romancing their ED can suck the energy out of me. People stuck by me when I did that though, so I have to have compassion for the girl who is still very sick. "

" I don't think there are a lot of attention seekers on here. I've had one as a friend so far and been on here forever - it feels. Anyway I dropped her as a friend and told her she was triggering and not being honest with me.
For the most part I think people here are honest, if not what a waste of time! Attention is certainly a part of ED. We feel unlovable and try to be rescued by people who may love us after all. I hope nobody takes the suicide thing lightly. That would just be shameless. I attempted once but went to my neighbor's and had her admit me for 72 suicide watch. Didn't go around announcing I was going to kill myself. "

" ED is about shame, feeling sorry for ourslves, and getting attention from others, it is ED fueling us to go backwards.. We need to learn, the difference between EDs distorted thoughts and our own.. It is okay to reach out for support, but the more we feel sorry for others and ourselves, we must be positive, and give affirmations, and encouragements.. Recovery is just as hard, if not harder, than staying in the life With ED. I am not being mean or anything, I have ED in my life for over 17 years, and am fighting him with everything.. I know the struggles between ED, and life.. It is not easy, but recovery is possible, its just hard work...

" We are on the same website and I stand by my comment that most people are loving and supportive on here.
Plus I did say that seeking attention is part of ED.
If you want to talk to people who aren't attention seekers check out my friends. Not a single one of them is there for attention. "
