Ok guys. I'm going to try an eye ointment, generic brand tonight. I don't have severe dry eyes at night but I want to keep it from getting that way. I'll let ya know how it works. :) I'm not thrilled with putting a mineral oil in my eyes, but am interested in trying. Sorta fun actually. I'm a health nerd. :D

I've used it once so far and it worked! Forgot to use it last night but eyes were ok this AM. Watered some due to dryness but no pain or anything. :)

I put some in last night but waited a few minutes before going to sleep and the ointment started wearing off! So I'm not gonna put it in until the very last ultimate minute, hehe. My eyes were a bit dry because of that, oh well. They've been watering a lot today, prolly cause of the dryness....

I have used various P.M. ointments. I found that sleeping with soft goggles at night helps keep my eyes from drying.

Anyone wishing to prevent dry eyes at night time should use name brand lacrilube ointment. I have had the best doctors and surgeons in the United States and have seen many over the past eight years. If your issue is muscle related, I suggest having your lids tested for their ability to close and maintain a complete seal at night. If there is not a proper seal, one must be artificially made by using micro foam tape (by 3M) or by using more expensive methods such as sealants. Ask away.

Nursesteph, re soft goggles: There's a product called Tranquileyes (google it) that's very good for this. Also a sleep mask can be helpful. Careful with swim goggles because they are airtight so its best to make sure you don't wear them too long at a stretch.

If i need to use pm stuff I use what is called " Refresh PM". I put it in just before I fall to sleep and this helps not having little dry areas by the eyes when I wake up. I don't mind this at night time but don't use it in the day time, as after I put it in can't see to well for a bit. But this does work for me at night time.

I use Genteal PM and it has no preservatives or Lanolin in it. It is better to use preservative free products in your eyes. Most generic eye ointments that I have found-are about a dollar or two cheaper-but they contain preservatives.
