I was wondering if any of you have had issues with vaccinations and your children with or without DS? I have been reading a lot of information on vaccines and their harmful effects on our kids. Have always vaccinated my others, but with Chloe I have this gut feeling I can't seem to get past. Any input would be great.

" I have vaccinated my six typical children and I most definetly am vaccinating Esther. After a VSD repair and pacemaker implantation, I am not going to lose her to a preventable disease. "

" hey Kim. I know what you mean. I have that same gut feeling with my 4 year old son. I have not quit getting him is shots all together but what I have done is make sure that all of his shots are murcury free (my pediatritian is really good about that) and I only give him just the basics, no new or experimental shots. He has not had any problems or reactions to any of them so far and I say a prayer in my heart each time I take him in that he will not be harmed. I hope this helps. I think there are many of us in the same boat, but I would certainly pay attention to what your "gut feeling" is telling you. "

" Well I have a son with Autism and I dont blame vaccinations. Thats just me lets not start a war. But I absolutly would take my sons Autism than deal with the death of my children because I didnt give him a Polio shot or the Ddtp These illnesses that we vaccinate for are horrible. Most causing death, paralysis, coma and a slew of others. I love my kids and the thought of unvaccinated kids in there schools scares the daylights out of me. I will keep my kids protected as much as I can. Now some people think that they can skip vaccines because all the other kids got it, but all it takes is one kid, and if you dont keep your immunizations current that can mean your child is suceptible too. " I am a nurse and I have seen children and adults who are not vaccinated. It is the most horrible thing ever to see these people suffering when all they needed was a vaccine. It is totally preventable.
There is new research out that shows they have taken the thermasol (mercury containing agent) out of vaccines and the same amount of children are still being diagnosed with autism. My little guy is 3 1/2 months old with DS and I definitely get his shots. However, if he is sick in any way even with a cold I would wait. This is just my advice. "

" I have had Allanah vaccinated and she has only 2 more to go before she enters school so they will have to be done soon.
I think most of us get the gut feelings but honestly in the long run they are better off having the vaccine as their liitle bodies are already in harms way of catching anything getting around as their immune systems are so low. "

" I think that this is truely a personal choice. I am big on listening to my intuition and right now I don`t feel like vaccines are right for us. I too vaccinated my older children, but I also didn`t know as much as I do now. I personally don`t think there is enough research done on Autism and vaccinations. So until I can feel confident that there is no link, we will opt out. I feel like Adia has enough to deal with out the risks involved with vaccines. "

" My middle child has Autism... and yeah Ive read all the hype about vaccines and Autism...Im not a buyer but I do know that there are alot of things that can go wrong if your child has a medical condition that is not showing its face yet...so with Emma we are on a differnt immunization schedual...she only gets one shot at a time...all without thermosil...its out of most anyway...but I figure..we already know she has chromosonal problems...who knows what else...so I worked with my PED to write a new schedual I was comfortable with and still get the protection she needs...
