" I definitely would stop with the cookies and chips. As Down's kids/adults have a higher tendency to be overweight. Try her with fruits? Applesauce or maybe sugar free puddings. Just try not to give her her way bc she does have DS. (I had to learn this with my brother also). Treat her like any other child, if you dont eat breakfast..you get no snacks. That type of thing. Good Luck "

" My six year old would eat pasta for every meal. We have set the rule in our house what is put in front of you is it. You really have to try to stick with it. Especially when there is dessert that he likes. He know he will not get any if he doesn't atleast try what's on his plate. Try dried fruits or have her try preparing the foods with you. They know more than they let on! I let Michael peel his own banana or stir and he processes more than it just being put in front of him. Good luck! "

" My 2 year old prefers crackers, cookies, and the like as well. I have found that he will eat things I can incorporate with his favorite foods. Peanut butter, cheese, hummus, and other spreads are good to put on crackers and toast. I have also found that if I give him meat or fruits and veggies without letting him see the bread or crackers he is more likely to eat them. I also would suggest graham crackers as an alternative to cookies, they are not an ideal snack, but are not as fatty and my son gobbles them up. "

" Remember that Downs kids tend to only like certain textures -- My Seb won't eat anything like cake or doughnuts or doughy cookies (thank goodness) but he does like crackers and other crunchy things -- so see if she will eat things like chicken nuggets -- I make a great chicken nugget out of chicken breast with bread crumb and sesame seeds that he loves (and they freeze well) "

" Hi i am from Australia and i have been through the same problems with my daughter, i went through it for 3-4yrs and i found that the clinics i was going to weren't helping me in anyway they were just monitoring what i was doing with her,i was told to give my daughter a dummy to suck on as this will enforce the feeling of having something in the back of her mouth and it worked she chews now where she never would before and her solid intake isn't the best but at least she eats solids now. She still has a bottle and i was told by the feeding clinic to put custard, milo, yoghurt any solid liquid that i could think of that would put weight on her and this started working cause now my daughter has been eating solid foods for a while. Maybe if you try things like the custards ect either in her bottle or a cup it may just help, you could maybe also try the dummy theory aswell. I have no real major sugestions but you can only try what others have tried and hope for a good outcome. "
